I could care less about the statistics. It's my all-time favorite disaster film and one of my all-time favorite films, period. I adore every second of it and I still think it holds up extremely well.

I could not agree more and, in fact, your point was very well made (even if your stats were imperfect): the original POSEIDON ADVENTURE made a ridiculous amount of money for what was basically a wildly overproduced B-movie. Myself, I've seen it somewhere between 50 and 100 times.

I saw it when I was a child during the original run with my sister. I cried, audibly, when Belle and the preacher died, completely embarrassing her.

I never am able to turn the channel if I see that it's on the telly. Love it.

To see how great the original Poseidon Adventure is you only have to take a look at the god awful remake that came out a few years ago.
Sueleen....I love Shelley Winters in Night Of The Hunter. One of my all time favorite films.
And Carlos...I love your new avatar!

And THERE'S GOT TO BE A MORNING AFTER was the smash hit in heavy rotation on the radio the summer of '73 when I worked on Block Island RI. I hear that song and immediately am reminded of the crazy boy-crush I nursed for this blond boy from Ohio the whole summer. Oh, Maureen McGovern...

I met Shelley...

I was really lucky enough to attend all the tapings for the first season of "Inside the Actor's Studio. It was never meant to be a TV show - just sorta a document of these great artists..

Her two books are magnificent. I’ve read “Shelley a.k.a Shirley” about 12 times since the age of about 13.

I told her that her books were an enormous influence on my childhood…

She paused and said:

“I’ve never hear that one before…MY books,ya sure?”

I think she must have thought I confused her with Judy Blume or something..

Great lady…

Which one? The awful film remake (based on the original film) or the awful TV movie remake (based on the novel)?

Shelley Winters was the quintessential Charlotte Haze in "Lolita." I don't know how Nabokov felt about her, but, for me, her interpretation (with Kubrick's help, I'm sure) does the novel proud. Unfortunately, her comic turn in that film is often overlooked because the studio wanted to play up Peter Sellers. But she is hilarious, grotesque, ludicrous and sympathetic all at the same time. It's my all-time favorite role of hers. I'd buy a "Charlotte Haze Doll" in a second.

This post is for you, BorstalBoy. <3
