I've seen the movie many times (and I do like it), but I've never read the book (and I have no real plans to do so).
However, I have some questions about the film. What was some of the dreams that Rosemary was having...there was one about withdrawing a school from a competition and it had a nun in it. What exactly was she saying and what was that dream about?
Then there was one about leaving Hutch at the dock and someone says "Catholics Only". This one might have been while she was drugged for the devil.

I've read the book several times and can only say that you'll find the answers to your questions there. Stop being a lazy lout and READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But I'm a child of the 1990's! I expect things to be done for me!
Just saw this movie again on cable. Still one of my favorites! I love the dream scene when she enters the chamber with the bed where the Devil rapes her. I love how she passes a burning version of Hell with the cries of the damned and the crackling of fire. Later, when she goes looking for the baby,we see it was just a painting on the wall (which the Cassevet's had taken down taken down in he beginning of the film).
That film is great story telling and it holds up without appearing dated.
That was not a dream! THAT WAS REAAAAAAAAALLL!!!!!!
I read the book, but it was eons ago. I don't remember.

Just want to say: This is one of the best movies ever.

Do yourself a favor child of the 1990's....read the book. In fact read ANY book.
Anyone know how the sequel to Rosemary's Baby ended? It's out of print, I keep hoping they will release it on DVD one of these days!
You mean, "Look What's Happened to Rosemary's Baby?" I've always wanted to see the sequel with Patty Duke as Rosemary. I think Ruth Gordon is also in it as well.
I loved the book, and the film is astounding. I recall the first time I saw the film, I thought it was bland but when I revisited it, I thought it was wonderful. Mia Farrow should have received an Oscar Nomination for the role and of course Ruth Gordon is excellent and well deserving of the award.
Great movie.

I'm probably in the minority, but I really could not get into it. It felt like there was a good movie in there, but it missed the mark. And I think part of it was Mia Farrow...I just didn't believe her, or the fact she was from Omaha (or some other midwestern city).
yeah, i thought it sucked.
Polanski was originally dead set on Tuesday Weld playing Rosemary. Jane Fonda was also in the running. Love them both, but Mia Farrow is so touching and spontaneous in the role. She's a gem and I still think this is Polanski's best flick.
No doubt Borstal.
And certainly the strongest in his urban apartment trilogy.
I do read...I just don't want to read a horror-type book.
