I lost interest when I saw that Sally was voted out and I realized that the lemmings were solely interested in Todd & Lovett. If the current revival hadn't been successfully received I doubt that they both would be in the running.
I have lost all faith and interest in this game.

Jose' you had faith in this game? EVER?
Now that was where you made your first mistake.
If it had been Phyllis, I would have been with you. Not true for Sally though.

Now, here's Sally.
She married the wrong guy.
Her life has no glamour, no excitement.
She carries a torch for another man all her life. Thinks of him all her waking hours.
Yet she keeps a positive outlook, and carries on. No whining, no complaining. She made the best of what life dealt her.
Phyliss was a floosie who made good, and still she wasnt' satisfied, emotionally or physically.
Lovett harbors greed, lust and has no heart except for what is going to line her pockets.
I am sadly disappointed.
You are right, however, SmartP. Anyone playing the game who has any life experience would immediately realize that Todd and Lovett are stock characters with no basis in reality. I shudda known betta.
Then, there is poor Sally. Still longing for her dream of happiness...

So take your Todd, and your Lovett, and be done with them

I seriously disagree with your description of Sally. I think it is the torch for Ben that causes her never to invest in her life, never to actually connect with husband or children, and to constantly doubt herself. Phyliss is a woman with control, she takes what she needs and is still willing in the end to be there for Ben.
Lovett would be the most fun to play, because she signifies lust, greed and delicious nastiness.
Either way, it hardly seems something to get torn up about. A mean YOUNG COSSETTE won the stupid Les Mis game, every single Sondheim character has more depth than that.

That's what makes Sally such a real person. She gave her life to something that could never give back (like posting on BWW-hehehe). Her life was wasted on her dream and it takes her years to realize it.
Phyliss isn't there for Ben. She's there for the life that Ben can provide her.
As for Lovett, well as a "character" I suppose for an actor she would be fun to play. However...
Well, I ask you...how many Sallys, Phylisses, and Lovetts have ou met in your life? (Rhetorical, of course.)

As for that rhetorical question Jose':
Many Sallys
Many Phyllises
and scary as it is one Lovett. *shudder*
I don't think that is true about Phyllis, as she says, she could still have that life without him. She puts up with his crap, not because of the money and prestige but inspite of it.
"Could I Leave You?" on the surface supports what you say, but I don't think she means most of that, and at the end when everything clears and it is just the four of them, Ben and Sally are shattered and it is Buddy and Phyllis who drop everything to pick them up.
Also, I have always voted for the Lansbury Mrs. Lovett, the current revival, although a production I love, has not entered into consideration.
I do like to discuss though.
I'll also leave the thread for another to finish.
