Since I can't find a previous such room, I'm starting this thread a-new. I have juicy examples.
"Stranger In Paradise" made popular by Tony Bennett. From "Kismet." The showmakers made no pretense about it. All their music was taken from Alexander Borodin's music. Many of you probably know that. But I'm posting two of the songs anyway & their Borodin sources.
"Stranger In Paradise" - 'Dance of the Polovtsian Maidens' from the opera "Prince Igor." Borodin "borrow-dined" (HA-pun)from himself in his 2nd String Quartet for this & visa versa.
"Rhymes Have I" - "Steppes of Central Asia" orchestral piece.
'Moon Love'sung by Sinatra - from first movement of Tchaikovsy's 6th Symphony.
"I'll Never stop Loving You" a lovely song from Doris Day in the movie musical "Love Me Or Leave Me." Disputed as stolen from an Eric Coates march.
