Posted: 2/19/05 at 4:26pmI just get some throat lozenges(okay spelling is atrocious, probably spelled that wrong too) and drink tea. Dammit I'm tired of feeling crappy! Sorry. Hope that helps though.

Grether's pastilles! Sutton Foster said she used them during Tmm on her website. They're like weird cough drops, they're awesome:)
you can get them here

I have a sore throat right now as well.
I went to Health and Wellness yesterday.
They told me to do a "saline gargle" (meaning with hot salt water).
They gave me generic Aleve and generic Advil, and told me to try one the first day and the other the second day to see which worked better for me.
Then they gave me generic Sudafed in case I became congested.
All I wanted was some throat lozenges...

Right now, I'm trying the fresh ginger with pineapple juice. Mainly because it's what I already have and it sounds the best tasting.
I'll take your advice too millie_dillmount

thanks thirdrowcenter.
haha Glebb, I'd take your advice, but I don't think my stomach would. I'll try it if the ginger and pineapple juice doesn't work.

The whole cough drop thing confuses me. I've heard some people say, "Take ones with menthol!!" Then I've heard others say, "Take ones WITHOUT menthol!!" So I don't know.
I always drink hot tea with honey. I actually just finished a cup of hot tea. I was at a party today, and I ended up singing without any technique and my voice hurts, just a little bit. I was getting a bit out of hand and someone started playing various songs from THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and I couldn't resist singing Christine's part, in addition to the Phantom's.
Then I inhaled some helium from a balloon and nailed Christine's high E at the end of the title song. Maybe that is why my throat hurts.

same here, joshua....I don't know which kind to buy...
and you inhaled helium to hit a high note? That is the funniest thing I have heard all night...you crazy partier you!

The hot tea with honey solution usually works. And sticking fresh ginger in it helps, too. Try to avoid dairy.
Chicken soup can help get rid of the mucus that causes sore throats in the first place. And it's yummy. :)

Posted: 2/20/05 at 12:19amMenthol numbs the throat so it doesn't hurt. If you aren't doing any kind of vocal performance, go for the menthol. If you are, never use menthol.

Well, I was like, "Ooh, let's inhale some helium!" and I did and it was hilarious. Then I decided to sing after inhaling it, which I had never done, so I took a HUGE breath of it and ended up reaching the note with ease. Or at least, what SEEMED like ease.
I think my vocal chords are in a state of shock... they haven't reached notes like that since I was a boy soprano.
