What did people like so much about SPIDERMAN 2? I enjoyed it well enough, but I honestly felt the first one was better. Yet SPIDERMAN 2 is more critically-acclaimed and considered one of the best action sequels ever.

Maybe Mary Jane doesn't die. Maybe I got my wires crossed and it's Gwen that dies.

I asked the same thing about both X-Men movies. I felt they were way overrated, even by people who felt they could be better.

I liked Spiderman 2 a lot just because I enjoyed it a lot more. I hated the action sequences in the first one and a lot of it just fell flat to me. I think the second one had more attention to detail or at least the human aspect of it. The only problem I had with Spiderman 2 was that I enjoyed the Peter Parker scenes A LOT more than I enjoyed the Spiderman ones. Everytime he became Spiderman and had to do an action scene, I felt it was a chore that we had to get through rather than really enjoying them.

Well with the first X Men movie, I think everyone involved knows it could have been better but when the asshat who runs the studio you're making the film for shaves six MONTHS off your post production schedule, it's a miracle the film is as good as it is.

I wish that X-Men had a different studio or came out AFTER the success the first Spiderman because we might've gotten a much better first movie and therefore a much better second movie. Although my complaints have to do with the writing and the way the characters are "developed" too.

I wouldn't be so mad at the movies if it wasn't for the great potential they had for both movies. I just think it was great vision but horrid execution.

Well X3 looks like it will be the worst of all, so get ready.

LOL. Thanks for the warning popcultureboy. It's a shame because I liked the first director they had signed up for X-3 because it seemed like he wanted to make changes for the better for the movie francise. I was saddened when they replaced him with Brett Ratner of all people.

Well I think Bryan Singer is the reason the X Men movies work so well despite their flaws. So when he (understandably) jumped ship, the end was nigh.

I don't know. I think Singer had great moments, but I also thought he wasn't imaginative enough. There parts in both movies where I felt a better writer/director would've made have made a huge difference.

VIET, X-Men made Spider-Man possible, so I guess you can thank the good treatment the latter franchise got to the unexpected success of the first. Of course, this didn't stop Rothman at FOX from being a dick and making Singer leave, but what can you do?
