OH! Sorry about that. Yeah, #3 got the worst of the reviews (and I agree)

Hopefully this means that they'll finally be able to do justice to Venom. I HATED how Raimi handled Venom in the last film. Hopefully now they'll also do the Gwen Stacy/Peter Parker/Mary Jane love triangle right.

If I read the E! News ticker correctly, it might as well be called Peter Parker: The High School Years. Sony was totally playing poker with Raimi who were not pleased with the date pushed back and supposedly were at odds with what villain to put in the next film. I forget which villain Sony wanted but Raimi wanted Vulture. Sony had the script in their back-pocket if everything fell apart and knew that if Sam left so would Tobey. The script's by the guy who gave us X-Men Origins: Wolverine but he also wrote Zodiac.

I try and pretend the third film didn't happen. I would not say the first two films were perfect, I still enjoyed them nonetheless, but it just seemed by the middle of the third film Raimi got bored and reverted to camp after canceling out the three villains in the film due to lack of character development.

Strummergirl, I also try and block out the third film's existence. The first two were outstanding IMO and then Raimi just totally dropped the ball with the last one.

well, to be fair, Raimi didn't even want Venom in the film but Sony pushed him to do it. I think it wasn't as good as the other two, because Sony started playing the "Big Brother" game with Raimi and questioned every thing he did and made him change/add things.

"Reboot" seems to be the major buzzword in Hollywood superhero franchises nowadays. DC just announced a "dark" reboot of the Superman franchise, since the LAST reboot they did sucked so bad. It honestly just seems lazy - I mean, in this case it's not even because of how bad Spider-Man 3 sucked (and boy, did it suck hard), it's because Raimi is being difficult. Good on him for not rushing a film to release that a) would not have been as good as it could be in time and b) would have too many cooks spoiling it (see: the last movie). It's a cliché, but this just goes to show that they're all about the bottom line - the easiest thing to do is just throw everything out and start again, instead of actually working to make anything better or improved.

I have heard James McTeigue and Timu Bekmanbetov are interested in the Superman reboot. TB would be an interesting (He did Wanted but he also has done some very interesting Russian action films) but McTeigue scared me off when his hackery got exposed with Ninja Assassin. The Wachowskis have been approached too, which is just as bad as they are McTeigue enablers. Is there going to be a specific source material for that reboot?

Speaking of other superhero films, does Ryan Reynolds being attached to the Green Lantern movie as Hal Jordan in any way effect X-Men Origins: Deadpool?

I think a reboot of Spiderman can work but it is a pointless exercise. The first two films were fine and the liberties Raimi took were not to the level of Tim Burton with Batman so I do not get the point of reboot.

Now the Fantastic Four, there lies a franchise desperately in need of redux/reboot.

I suggest reboots for movies that aren't part of any franchise.

I'd like to see James Toback's "Up in the Air" with Patrick Dempsey. In this one, the lead character is a doctor!

Tyler Perry's "It's Complicated" with Angela Basset, Denzel Washington and Taye Diggs. In this one, the female lead also can fly!

I really don't care if they reboot, revise, remake, or just reasyle the franchise. If it's good I'll see it.

Spiderman the character is the iconic element, not various directors and actors.

That being said I am disappointed that Dylan Baker never got to become The Lizard. Feels like unfinished business there.
