I saw this yesterday. The whole thing makes me sad.
Sad for Batkid (although he got a nice consolation prize) and really sad that Garfield was such a raging asshole.
Don't you hate when people you genuinely think are cool turn out to be dicKheads?

They should fire Garfield and start the Spider-man story all over again again.
LOL.
In all seriousness though, this is amazingly bad publicity for Sony and the new SPIDERMAN film.
A different version of events here. I hope this one is true. And personally I would wayyyyy rather go to Disneyland than the Oscars.

That sounds more diplomatic for sure.
But if they had to cut the segment because it wasn't working, why bring Evans in to do the replacement bit one day before the telecast?
I mean, Garfield was already there. Why not use him for the easier bit?
Unless he had left.....
Maybe he decided he would rather spend the day with Batkid in Disneyland? I know I would.

I thank Andrew Garfield for cutting at least five minutes from the Oscars.
Willing to bet money that somebody at DC put their foot down at having some Marvel/DC synergy. If Marvel denied having their titles involved in The Lego Movie because it mixed them with DC titles, I find anything of that nature possible in these cases.
God, when I first heard about this being reported, and this was when it was just involving superheroes and the heroes theme sans Batkid, I thought this seemed like they would having Batkid on the telecast. I never thought that was the right assertion. Goodness.
Strummergirl. that is EXACTLY what crossed my mind when I read this. It could have been someone from either side of the aisle, Marvel or DC.
