"The development is a signal that once-lenient studios are getting tougher with talent. The fact that Paramount was willing to go up against CAA also suggests Cruise's declining status at the studio, which also might have been hurt by tensions between the actor and Steven Spielberg that developed while he was promoting Spielberg's "War of the Worlds" last year."
Does anyone know what took place, apart from cruise jumping all ove roprah..
.. not to mention that he called psychiatry a pseudo-science and said that Brooke Shields is irresponsible for taking anti-depressants, which opened a BIG can of worms.
"The visit by Cruise seemed to put to rest the rumors of a falling out between the two Hollywood powerhouses. There had been much speculation that Spielberg was allegedly upset with Cruise for spending way too much time last summer discussing Scientology while promoting their hit film 'War of the Worlds.'"
Tom Cruise Honors Spielberg
on the Today show this morning, a woman was talking about how Cruise and Paramount split. Cruise says it's because his negotiations were not being met the way he wanted, and paramount said it's a combo of his past behavior, which has lost him some appeal, and the fact that MI:3 did less then they expected.
also, Cruise's contract says that forbears payment from studios for doing a movie, but he gets %10 of the gross, so maybe Paramount also didn't want to give him that.
I dunno. it's a he said, she said situation, but I think Cruise did the leaving, because even though his appeal has gone down, he is still one of the most bankable stars in the world, (war of the worlds was his highest grossing ever) and paramount would be making a horrible business decision by letting thier biggest property go.
I hope we don't see Spielberg "accidentally" disappear soon...
I walked into the kitchen yesterday and saw on the TV "Cruise Being Dumped!" as a headline, and my initial thought was that Katie finally dumped him.
no, if that story ever comes out, Cruise will definately do the dumping, unless they want to give him sympathy points and portray him as the victim, then Katie will.
Why does this matter?
it doesn't, but it's something to talk about.
and who cares, the guy is wacko.......he needs to be properly trained.......hmmmm, SEND HIM TO ME!
