Martine Bartlett
"You better hold your water! Hold it till the very last note!"
"Me too! It's that weird, flat, almost Louise Fletcher voice of hers that does it for me."
Exactly! She's only in Splendor briefly, but I swear I had trouble focusing on the movie after that.
Fortunately Natalie Wood's hot cup o' "crazy" performance snapped me out if it.
Doodle---Martine! That's it. She was also in the Twilight Zone where the little boy speaks to his dead grandmother through the toy telephone. She played an operator.
I was ascairt of her too, but also felt sorry for her, like Steve Railsback, who had trouble getting work after Helter Skelter.
Casting directors probably peed their pants if she walked in ther room.
No, no they didn't.
They held their water.
hee
The teacher also made an impession on me as well.
There really wasnt a bad performance in the film.
I love just about every Natalie Wood movie. And yes "Did he spoil you" is a very strong scene. No matter how many times I see it, it's like the first time!
Beatty is STILL hot at 70.
I thought he was hot when he did DICK TRACY
Taz, are you aware than Warner Bros. Is releasing a 2 disc special edition of this film before the end of the year on dvdv and blu-ray. Same treatment they gave BONNIE AND CLYDE.

they need to get this out on 2 disc DVD. it's long overdue.
warner bros. needs to get with the program and really issue a natalie wood boxed set of dvds. if fox could do it for joan collins, who in my opinion had a less stellar film career then warners should bother itself and put together one for natalie ~ she's a hollywood legend and she deserves it.
RB---This was posted back in April on DigitalBits...
" Barrie has learned that Warner Home Video has a couple interesting sets coming this summer. The first is a Home Front Collection due in July, and the second is a Natalie Wood Collection for August. The former would contain Thank Your Lucky Stars, Hollywood Canteen, and This Is the Army - all wartime releases. The Natalie Wood Collection would include six films: Inside Daisy Clover (1965), Gypsy (1962), Bombers B-52 (1957), Splendor in the Grass (1961), Sex and the Single Girl (1964), and Cash McCall (1959). Great news for classic film fans indeed! [Editor's Note: We've spoken directly with the studio on the above classic titles, and they tell us that the titles are definitely coming, but they want to make sure the quality is as high as possible, so these dates are almost certainly going to change. Just be aware of this, and please let others know. Patience will be rewarded with better looking releases.]"
