I used to LOVE it!

I recently watched it again, and it doesn't really stand the test of time. But, I loved it when it first came out.

I was SOOO the Ally Sheedy character. (kind of ashamed to admit...)

...Law & Order: SVU (yes, another Law & Order..)...that was the last time I saw Mare Winningham...in a way, she did not change a bit since Turner & Hooch.

Funny, I always thought Winningham was by far the most talented (but, perhaps, least "movie star"-looking) of the so-called Brat Pack -- she's still the only one of them to get an Oscar nomination (for "Georgia"). You'd think she'd be one of those character actresses that worked constantly. But then, looking at imdb, I guess she has worked consistently on tv (she was excellent as Lurleen Wallace in "George Wallace" a few years back). It's too bad she never had a bigger film career.

Maybe when she gets older. Also, she should try stage (if she hasn't already) -- I think she'd work a lot as a theatre actress. Maybe she could play Sister Aloysius at some point?

I don't know why you're both so worried... So, I bop him for a couple of years, get his job when he gets his hands caught in the vault, do a black mink ad, retire in utter disgrace, then write a best seller and be a fabulous host on my own talk show...

I was thinking about the same thing, Margo...The first role came to my mind was Josie of A Moon for the Misbegotten...well, they are both by Cherry Jones...

She could definitely do Josie, too, though I wonder if she has that kind of effortless earth mother power on stage. Colleen Dewhurst defined it and Jones was wonderful, too (though, even by her own admission, it took her a while to find it -- Dewhurst's shadow intimidated her).

You're right, Margo...(as always ), I somehow remember she (Jones) was talking about that...(what was that article?) I wish I could have seen Dewhurst one...the one I saw was with Jones (obviously) and her Josie knocked me out, who actually went to see that play to see Mr. Byrne.

FYI -- the Dewhurst-Robards "Misbeggoten" is readily availble on video and DVD. Check Amazon, Broadway Theatre Archive etc.......
