Starting tomorrow: Chick-fil-A Revamps Its Menu

http://www.ajc.com/business/content/business/stories/2008/05/16/chickfila_0518.html?imw=Y

I have to say that I love EVERYTHING on the Chick-fil-A menu except for two items: 1) the chicken salad sandwiches, which I dont like regardless, and 2) the chicken strips.

It'll be interesting to see how the strips are improved.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Chick-fil-A and the fact that they are trying to improve makes me nervous, however reading about the specifics of these changes, I don't think I have anything to worry about. Just making side items available to swap out for fries. I hope there is no additional cost. I want to "upgrade" to a fruit cup lots of times, however it costs MORE which is a shame. It's expensive to be healthy.

But BOY do I love myself a Chick-fil-A sandwich, waffle fries, and fresh lemonade.

Maybe they should consider a name change, while they are at it.

re: Starting tomorrow: Chick-fil-A Revamps Its Menu

Why?

I practically grew up on Chick-fil-A, and it pisses me off that they don't have a location in Las Vegas.

It's pretty sad that I wanna go back to San Diego for the Chick-fil-A.

I've spent a good deal of my life on tour, and I always count it a blessing to find a Chick-fil-A. It's light, flavorful food that is satisfying without sitting on you or making you feel bloated. McDonald's and Subway---blechh!
I ask in all honesty/What would life be?/Without a song and a dance, what are we?/So I say "Thank you for the music/For giving it to me."

Chick-fil-A makes the best chicken sandwiches. They so good!

I wish they would open a store in NYC. Grand Central Station would be a perfect location.

There is one on the campus of NYU.

Gothampc - That's what I originally thought, however I went to the Chick-fil-A website and it is no longer listed in their locations page. It used to be, but not anymore. So it closed?

re: Starting tomorrow: Chick-fil-A Revamps Its Menu

while i'm glad more fast food places are making their menus healthier, i hope that this is well publicized, especially in the food allergy community.
i stopped being able to eat burger king's french fries after they turned "healthy" when i was in middle school.

i dont think there's a chick-fil-a near me (which actually doesn't matter beacuse i'm allergic to chicken!) but this is just a reminder to those with food allergies to ALWAYS ask for the ingredients at fast food places (and all restaurants) because a recipe can change and suddenly you may not be able to eat a food that was formally safe.

Totally love Panera. Huge fan, love eating at them around here. They have great bagels/pastries, and I am a huge huge fan of baguettes, expecially theirs.

The Chik-fil-A at NYU is definitely still open. It does have a limited menu, though, as it's not a legit Chik-fil-A store, but part of a dining hall.

They are a VERY conservative Christian organization. Mormon perhaps.

They won't open on Sundays to allow employees to attend church. They begin meetings in prayer. Thus those who are interested in starting a franchise get the "hint" if they don't "belong."

This thinking seeps into their hiring and firing practices as many former employees have attested to.

So next time you munch into one of their savory (and I love them too) sandwiches ... just think of where that money is going and what organizations you might be indirectly supporting.

BFB: Very mormon! The founder's name is Truett Cathy.

I knew a few gay guys that worked at the Sherman, TX location.

Have only eaten at Chick-fil-A a very few times. They're in my area, just not in convenient enough locations for me I guess.

Truett Cathy is actually Baptist, not Mormon, as it turns out.
On the link included here, go to "...Awards and Affiliations" (pop up page), and on it, look under "Affiliations". Lists him as a member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro, GA.

re: Starting tomorrow: Christ-fil-A Resurrects Its Holy Menu

I don't eat fast food at all anymore (or meat of any kind), but when I was growing up I loved Chick-fil-A, and adding to what BFB said, I was always freaked out eating at "Christ-fil-A" as I called them.

re: Starting tomorrow: Christ-fil-A Resurrects Its Holy Menu

I worked for a Chick-Fil-A for two years while in college.

In their defense they treat their employees pretty well. You get Sundays off, never have to work later than 10 and are tranied to treat coworkers and guests with kindness and respect.

However, they make it painfully obvious how very babtist/right wing an organization they are and employees are expected to adopt this motto if they seek advancement.

During orientation you learn that the company's mission is to "glorify jesus through making chicken" or something like that. New employees are also forced to read S. Truett Cathy's biography, which is the biggest piece on sanctimonious crap I ever read and never made it past chapter two.

Managers think of Mr. Cathy as some kind of demigod and squeal with anticipation at the chance to meet him at corporate meetings.

It attracts a staff of mostly young conservative kids who would make fun of me for going to see the "Rent" movie since it was a film about characters who "slept around with eachother" and got AIDS because God was mad at them (an exact quote from one of my managers.) It was also real fun being one of the few democrats working there during the 2004 election, as everyone else in the store loved Bush because he hated abortion.

My favoite line from a manager: "It's ok that your gay, but you know that being gay is a CHOICE."

So overall Chick-Fil-A=Great food, crazy-ass employees.

re:Customer Service

First, I love the Chick-fil-A sandwich. Perfect.

McDonald's is finally trying to rip it off as their new Southern Style Chicken Sandwich - but it's just not as good.

Second, Chick-fil-A restaurants (and I have been to many in many states) have the best customer service (for fast food) that I have ever encountered. I have also always found them above-average in cleanliness.

re:Customer Service

They also throw coupons around like crazy. I love being surprised once a month with a coupon for a free sandwich if I do a quick phone survey. And the calanders give great coupons, too.

Great-tasting food, outstanding customer service, superb cleanliness, remarkable customer appreciation versus higher prices (in the fast food realm) and a right-wing organization.

I actually am trying to work there for the summer in addition to my summer jobs. I am trying to avoid it as I swore never again to work in a restaurant of any kind. But DAMN is it hard to find a "real" job! I NEVER have a problem getting hired in theatre, but getting a REAL job that pays? Forget it!
