Stephen Schwartz is coming to my school (and I'm not lying!!)

Our high school musical this year at John Jay High School is Pippin, and today before dress rehearsal, Stephen Schwartz himself is stopping by to discuss it with the cast! Even though I'm a musician for it (I'm playing acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and banjo for it) I'm going to participate in the discussion.

Where do you live?

Is there more than 1 John Jay high school?

No - I used to do this program called FPS (Future Problem Solvers), and states were always held at John Jay High School. We stayed in a hotel in Katonah.

Got ya. I guess that means I've been at your school twice, and both times my FPS team won, so I guess it's a lucky school!

I said, "First of all, I love Kristin Chenoweth." Everyone laughed because of the randomality of it and Stephen said, "Well, the second line forms that over here."

Then I asked him his opinion of the televised version of Pippin and its abridgement and he said that the director of the video was literally on cocaine and he fired Bob Fosse and edited the video himself.

I think it is wonderful that a man who wrote this work over 30 years ago is still talking about it, and trying to improve what he has done. that shows true artmanship.
