I'm gonna miss him.

True, he wasn't always a hit, but who is? I truly cannot think of any director of film who has had a career so widely varied and lacking in a recurring theme or idea, not even Altman.

Agreed. I didn't always love everything, but the breadth of his work is astounding (though Fincher is probably still my favorite of the current crop of film directors).

I refuse to believe he will be out of it for more than 5 years. But if this is really for good, he ends on a strong 5 picture run (The Informant! and Contagion are among my favorites after Out of Sight and I cannot wait for Side Effects) that shows great range and surprising acting showcases. Finding Scott Z. Burns as a collaborator was one of the great re-energizers for his career. Cannot wait for the Liberace movie.
