This release has been announced a few times over the last year and then pulled off the schedule. However, it is now planned to happen to celebrate the film's 30th anniversary and will be released on November 28, 2006. There will be a newly recorded commentary by Barbra, some deleted/alternate scenes, Dolby 5.1 and a new anamorphic widescreen transfer all for an MSRP of $19.97.

Can ya tell I'm happy?? I love this movie, no matter what anyone says. Can't wait to hear the commentary!!!
Her DVD commentaries can be quite ludicrous as in her 13 minutes or so on the DVD to WHAT'S UP, DOC? where you can actually hear her eat while talking. Sounds as if someone woke her up. Disappointing, as is her absence from the DVDs to FUNNY GIRL and FUNNY LADY. And don't get me started as to the lack of extras on those films and ON A CLEAR DAY.
A lot of the music in ASIB is wonderful, especially
"Everything" and "Queen Bee". The acting is another matter.
Let me tell you....I have heard her 'lost' commentary on PRINCE OF TIDES (on the out of print Laser Disc) and it is magnificent - insightful and thought provoking. I have no doubt that her YENTL commentary will be the same, and A STAR IS BORN's, as well - because when she really cares about a movie, it shows.
Especially if she is the film's producer.
Wah wah. Barbra bores me now.
Good. Then don't bother the rest of us who find her extremely interesting.

No Barbra haters, please....
I'm a gigantic fan of Barbra, like GIGANTIC, but this movie doesn't do to much for me. I think the music is fantastic in some points, and I don't hate the movie, I just don't love it either.
I'm more excited over the release of ONE VOICE. And once Yentl finally hits shelves in America, I'll be there in 2 Barbra seconds :)
ah here we go again where people are not allowed to have an opinion about BS that is not 1,000% positive.
They are going to add deleted scenes. Isn't this mess of a movie long enough. I wonder what it would have been like if they had gotten their first choice for a leading man - Elvis. Kristofferson is sooooo bad.
There's just too much ugly going on in that film, for me. That, and it's really, really boring. "Evergreen" is lovely, though.
John Norman?!?
He is in his easy chair.
No Barbra haters, please....
Ha! That's kind of like saying in a post, "No George Bush haters, please....."
I hate Adolf Hitler. I do not hate Barbra Streisand. Disappointed? Yes. Confused? Yes. Hate? No.

I was busy watching "My Husband is Gay" on BBC America since 9pm.
La Babs' "A Star Is Born" is one of my least favorite films of hers. Poor score and it was dated when it was released. Babs just was never a contempory person no matter how much she tried to be.

All points of view are welcome!
I am not a fan of this film, either. I was, back in the day, but I saw it a few months ago at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco, and it was pretty bad. Someone here said it was long enough already without the extra deleted scenes. While I agree that it was a long film, I would still be interested in seeing the deleted scenes. The acting in the film wasn't very good and Kris was awful as was Bab's afro, but I forgive it's problems since I love Babs!
