(Stupid) Facebook question

Admittedly I haven't really been paying attention to the changes past all of the "KEEP YOUR STUFF PRIVATE!!!" hysteria, but are you no longer able to control which activity pops up on your wall/news feed? I know you used to be able to choose if say, adding new friends, commenting on posts/photos/statuses or writing on walls came up in there, but now new stuff that I had originally set to "no" keeps popping up in there, and I can't seem to find a way to change it back. Anybody know the answer to this?

I think you can under settings. Things seem to keep changing. I have only really kept up on the privacy thing. That is just crazy but I make sure everything is private/for friends only. Now that employers are going into employees Facebook accounts and hackers are getting in, the privacy thing, for me, is more important than anything.

That's where I've been looking, and I just can't find it! Everything now seems to be basically "Who can see ____," be it just friends, everybody, or whatever. The part where you can choose what goes into your feed appears to be either gone or hidden. It's not a big deal, just kind of an annoyance.

I'm just trying to turn BWW into Facebook. Just without the constant status updates. And the pictures of me making a drunken *sshole out of myself.
