Suicide Squad

Well that was nothing special, neither good nor bad, it was just nothing.

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

Tend to echo your feelings...

Didn't love it, didn't hate it...

Enjoyed Maggot Robbie. She truly does steal the film.

Margot Robbie was the best thing in the film

I also thought there wasn't much to complain about but nothing much to rave about either. I did like Margot Robbie and the girl who played Katana, it was nice to see another version of a live action Katana.

Suicide Squad

The fanboys on IMDB were having a meltdown on this. Currently has a 7.1, despite a 41 metascore. Fanboy culture certainly is strange.

Not really a fan of these creature/entity from another dimension/space try to take over the world-type villains. I prefer my superhero movies more "realistic." Wish this one didn't go that route.

That being said. I thought the film was a mess. Like Batman v. Superman, I felt there needed to be another film before this to fully care about the characters. Would have loved a solo Batman flick with the Joker and Dr. Harleen Quinzel before this to get some character development. Their flashback scenes just felt so out of place. Robbie was very good, though her best scenes were spoiled in the trailers.

I think I'm just going to give up on superhero movies at this point.

I wonder if Dr. Quinzel is being de-emphasized in the canon right now, at least in "mainstream" things like movies and TV, because the character is a little triggering for 21st century gender politics? An intelligent, powerful lesbian doctor mind-raped and probably rape-raped into a brainless sexy baby-doll henchwoman.

Part of what makes Batman, from the late 1980s onward, more interesting than most superhero sagas is the way that it incorporates elements of (admittedly exaggerated) actual psychology into its characters, and examines the way that sci-fi and superhero tropes would affect people with slightly off-center mental states to potentially exacerbate their conditions. I wonder if looking too closely at Harley Quinn is "off limits" because she's a cash cow character now.

I agree- it wasn't bad and it wasn't great. just okay. I don't know if I'd ever need to see it again tho. I will say that I saw this and AB FAB in the same week and loved AB FAB much much better and would see that many more times! LOL

"Interesting theory. We know in 2016, there are things that must not be said or shown even if they were OK for cartoons and comics 20 years ago. I have not seen the movie, but I can tell from the commercials that and from friends who have that they mainstreamed Harley from the comics and cartoon. I may be wrong, but now she seems just bad as opposed to insane. But, Dr Q would be an amazing story for a Harley only movie. She is way more interesting to young girls than Wonder Women and Super Girl I think. Maybe they are saving it for that? I bet Margot can open a movie by herself. She is one of the most interesting actresses around and certainly among the prettiest.

I thought Viola Davis' take on Amanda Waller was spot on.The plot let her down a bit but her scenes were still the most interesting in the movie.
