Hi..My friend was going to go to Stagedoor but, after getting some real bad vibes about the place, has dropped out. Anyone know of any good summer camps or programs that are still accepting applications. Anywhere in the US is good and she really wants musical theatre camps, but straight drama is fine too. Thanks.

Y.A.T.A in Owensboro KY is still taking people I think, I know someone going to that one. I'm not sure if it's really any good though.
Hmm..not sure how good they are since I put Y.A.T.A in google and nothing came up!
My friend got an email from Oklahoma City University Summer Music. They have three spots available for their first session and the deadline to apply is June 1st. You have to send an audition and apparently there were several who were not accept in the last admission session. So theyve got three spots. If you can get into OCU..GO! the most amaizing summer program in the US!!!
here is their webpage http://www.okcu.edu/music/academy/hsmtp.aspx

yeah... it's relatively new though. Zev Buffman runs it and Angela Lansbury is supposed to be there.
An theater manager I know said that it's possible some Broadway person might be showing up at OCU this summer.
Hmmm....

Was your friend able to get a refund from Stagedoor?
Hi..I'm not sure if she got a refund. It was a bad situation where they lied about rooming her with someone and also they were real rude on the phone to her mom. So..no Stagedoor for her which is fine.
She did call OCU and they do have 3 spots for their first session and apparently they were SUPER NICE!! She'd love to go there and you have to get your audition in by June 1st.
Interesting that University of Michigan and NYU are still taking applications while OCU has only three spots left.

It's Kelli O'Hara. She's in town to do the centennial production of Oklahoma! at Lyric in June and they're trying to get her to do a master class at the camp.
And you know this how? Are you involved in the program?

Are there any good programs for people no longer in high school. OCU is only for high school students...grhhh! It sounds fantastic! I think it's probably too late for this year, but if anyone knows of any programs let me know. I think I'm going to apply for Manhattan School of Music for next year.
The one at Manhattan School of Music is actually a good one. I have a friend who is doing it this year and I go to the school. I am going to do it next year. Having that connection with Paul Gemignani is an amazing one to have.
If you get your applications in asap, and can audition in NY then Circle in the Square is still accepting. circlesquare.org
I take it you want musical theater? The top two
OCU

University of Michigan

Michigan says they not taking more applications, but they often say that too look "impressive". Also, OCU offers a wider varirty of training classes than Michigan.
If you can, go to OCU.

"And you know this how? Are you involved in the program?"
Yup.
So you are staring that you are involved in the program?
Why do you feel the need to lie? You have been hired by the Performing Arts Academy to work the program this summer..2007 summer? Because that is the only way you would know what is going on.
We don't take kindly to liars around here. Please share with us what your exactl summer 2007 position is.

OCU's Vocal performance seesion is also for college undergraduates; the MT is only HS.
And, while I'm at it, is it really necessary for everyone to be so nasty. "Mr. Tuttle" may be part of the OCU program, or the knowledge may come from another source. They send out newsletters to the students registered and their families, they are MORE than nice on the phone or via e-mail and will answer all of your questions and their reputation reaches far and wide. Why assume the worst about someone and fling accusations that you have no basis for forming.
Play nice or it's time to go home for the night!

Greetings from the Oklahoma City University Summer Music Program!
I was recently made aware of this thread by phone calls to our office, We’re pleased that folks want to know so much about our great program.
I wanted to clarify the situation. First, no one that has posted here is (to my knowledge) directly involved in our program. Second, we are exploring numerous exciting possibilities for our summer program. However, nothing is set or confirmed...including the rumor that has been discussed her about Miss O’Hara. Everything posted so far in this thread is rumor. As a major summer music program, we have several opportunities that we are exploring and we will certainly provide our students with a summer experience they won't forget.
If there are any questions about our program, please feel free to contact me directly at dmeagher@okcu.edu. We're always glad to hear from you. Thanks!

I find that strange seeing as Konnie told me personally in an email that not even rooming for the First Session is complete yet.
I'll never understand why people on BWW are so negative about Stagedoor Manor, when it's personally the place I call home.
Anyway, I've heard great things about OCU, just like everyone else has said. And my only advice is DO NOT go to French Woods.
