Just to be different, here's some great graphic novels:
Watchmen, by Alan Moore
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Vol. 1, by Alan Moore
Maus, by Art Spiegelman
Ghost World, by Daniel Clowes
Don't overlook these as "comics" - they're not. And because of the mix of print and visual information, sometimes they require more concentration than a regular novel. You can't skim through them. Maus and Watchmen, especially, are stunners.

Just finished reading "DANCER"...its a fictional look at the life of Nureyev, based on the actual events. The Solway biography is the must-read bio, but this book was a good read

i'm not really a BIG reader...but i read The Handmaid's Tale...awesome book...and it's going out of print soon even though it's not a very old book...it's America's little way of banning a book without banning it!

My favorite book I read this year was "The Other Boleyn Girl" by Philippa Gregory. Very long book, but I could not stop reading it. Great historical fiction book.
Right now, I'm reading "Different Seasons" by Stephen King. I haven't read any of his books in a long time, but I saw this one at the bookstore, and I love short stories. I don't know how I missed this one. It has The Shawshank Redemption story and Stand By You story. I never saw Stand By You, so at least the story will be new to me as opposed to Shawshank.

I am half-way through Ted Chapin's EVERYTHING WAS POSSIBLE. It's his account of how the musical FOLLIES was put together. It's excellent!
Ohh..I am going to have to hunt down some of these books...I love to read but rarely have time...especially since I am always on here...lol

I read Forever, by Pete Hamell. Another great book...kind of like time travel, but the main character is immortal, and you experience Manhatten from like 1700 to 9/11.
If you want to read a very historical novel over Manhatten, go buy it. It's so great.
Not a light summer read by any stretch of the imagination but, I recently read The Autobiography Of Henry VIII by Margaret George. Ms. George writes wonderful fictional novels about historic characters and does so as though they themselves are doing the writing. They are well researched and historically accurate. A couple others that I read by her are The Memoires Of Cleopatra and Mary, Called Magdaline. Be prepared to invest a good deal of time and thought into reading these books. They are well worth it.
I read "Mary,Called Magdalene" on a recent trip to Hong Kong..this book made that 15 hour flight enjoyable.
Zola, if you liked Dry, then I heartily recommend A Million Little Pieces by James Frey. It is an incredible memoir of his recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. It's very tough going at times as it's brutally honest about everything, but it's always gripping and the last 100 pages are deeply, profoundly moving.
"I read "Mary,Called Magdalene" on a recent trip to Hong Kong..this book made that 15 hour flight enjoyable."
Now the truth comes out, BWBoobs is a sex kitten with a brain.
Boobs and Nina -- I'll have to pick up Mary,Called Magdalene -- just did a search on Amazon...thanks

I've been working my way through the audio book of the brilliant David Sedaris' "Dress Your Family in Cordoroy and Denim". He's a genius writer, and nothing compares to him reading his work aloud. Some of the stories are hysterically funny, some are bittersweet and will bring tears to your eyes.
The audio book is over six hours on five CD's. Beats the hell out of talk radio in the car!
I try my best Nina. I LOVE to read. Not cool when I was growing up...like I cared...I always did what I wanted and dealt with the abuse from my peers.

I saw the movie in a high school English class. It was...interesting. But not as good as the book, which is one of the most powerful I've ever read.
Right now I'm being old-fashioned and reading Wuthering Heights. I'm not sure I'd recommend it though- the two main characters are such brats it's annoying.
I am currently reading "The Birth of Venus" by Sarah Dunant. Was a little slow at first, but now really into it.
The best book iread recently was "The Time Traveller's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. Loved it!
And "Wuthering Heights" is my all time favorite...
Oh ma gosh, I LOVED The Time Traveller's Wife. So beautiful. Birth Of Venus is a little slow, but once you get into it, it grips like iron. I read the last 200 pages in a day.
Started MIRROR MIRROR today. I'm liking it!
