Here is an easy way to show support for the writers by letting the producer's of your favorite show(s) know what you think..

But The Producers closed. Where can I find Lane & Broderick?
HAHA!
Honestly, I think this strike is a good thing. It's given the writers time to write their own material. There's going to be a lot of new, fresh movies coming out once this thing is over.
And before you start yelling, "They can't write!", they can still write on speculation.
My friends who are working writers are spending most of their time on the picket lines... they aren't getting much writing -even pet projects - done.

Why?
Then they're wasting time. Think about how much work they could be getting done.

Why?
Because they could be writing their own scripts, instead of being paid to write stupid sequels or remakes.
Dana Delaney was on the view yesterday and she said her friend is on the board doing the negotiations (I am getting this second hand as I didn't see it.) and they are hoping it will be settled by Monday.
Once again your thinking is a little backward, Capt. What makes you think their "pet projects" would ever get produced after the strike. When this is all over the producers will be looking for sure fire hits...and the writers will be hungry enough to serve it up. Shrek 8,9,10 coming right up.
So true, Sue, so true.

Somehow we will survive without new TV shows. It is not the end of the world.
I don't recall anyone suggesting (outside of the writers themselves) that their lives have halted because of some missing TV shows.
I would be embarassed for them if anyone admitted such a thing.
However, I have writer friends who are sacrificing a lot right now to get a very modest increases in payment and security.
I wholeheartedly support them and encourage others to do as well.

I've been supporting them from the start. Actually, I was at the rally in Washington Square Park not too long ago.
Edit: I actually had the pleasure of speaking to Peter Gwinn, a writer for the Colbert Report -- the sweetest man!
