Just found out, I was asked to do an audition. 16 Bars A Capella any Original Broadway song. I'm a huge theater freak but I need to stick this audition cause they are older than me. 17years old tenor

Sing Maria from West Side Story! I always found Johanna and Maria (can't imagine why) to be strikingly similar, that is if you are going for the part of Anthony.
well the whole show is cast
and I am mad because Anthony was cast already by this kid in the Community theater world near me and he cant sing or act...ok he an sing but he deff cant act im better
man shoot for Tobias! That's the best role for a young tenor.
I would shoot for songs similar to "Not While I'm Around."
"When The Earth Stopped Turning" from Elegies has a similar feel, so I would recommend that. I'm not sure if this theatre is looking for your ability to sing Sondheim material, but if you can get a cut of "I guess this is goodbye" from Into The Woods, that would also be perfect.
At any rate, I say stick to more classic song writing because that's more sondheim's style. Gershwin, Berlin, Porter, etc.
"Bewitched" from Pal Joey?
I'm just thinking here, ha ha.
ya im a more classic Broadway guy. But toby is already cast. Its for an ensemble part and I was approached for a local summer stock, I missed auditions for it due to being in the Laramie Project. But I am in their Cinderella I just have to Audition for this one ensemble role and I really want it
In that case you'll probably get in. If they let one crappy person in already, they won't care one way or another if you're in so long as you don't totally bomb (if you are as good as you say you are). Definitely take the previously listed suggestions, because they're all great.
heyy thanks to all who responded. I got in!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I sang the intro to "I love to cry at weddings" from Sweet Charity
Its slow and good, showed my range and i guess they Liked me
Many congrats E!!
