For the first time ever I am going to follow a REAL WORLD series (taking a "Reality TV" class). Just saw a 30-minute preview on MTV and it looks intense.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I don't watch, but I actually have heard about the gay guy--he's trying to not be gay by dating girls. saw a clip of him. he's in for such a rude awakening.

You know, it is more than likely I'll be watching this season. It's like how I don't want to watch Laguna Beach and yet, if it's on, I'll be in front of the television.

Damn, MTV is so addicting.

I haven't followed the show in ages, but I couldn't help myself in watching the previews, and this is the most sickening cast ever. The usual slutty girls, the self-loathing gay guy and the stupid homophobic bigot (who now gets a free platform to spout his loathsome views). Euthanize this tired show, MTV! The original cast members are about ready to start collecting social security.

I can't wait for REAL WORLD: Detroit where none of the cast makes it out alive.

I love True Life and the Challenge shows. I tend to watch the REAL WORLD for the first couple episodes, but then it gets sorta boring cause it gets too mushy and stuff.

Sucks that the self-loathing "i've been in counseling" gay guy is incredibily YUMMY.

they always are. tsk tsk tsk

I only watched the San Diego season. The best part was the drama off screen, how someone was raped in the Real World House. It was on the news for a couple of weeks...

I said the best part was the drama surrounding the rape part.

The best part was the drama off screen, how someone was raped in the Real World House.

Oh I can read, but apparently you can't vocalize what you mean. It states...the best part (was) how someone was raped.....

learn how to say what you mean, which would have been..

The best part was the drama surrounding the rape....which is NOT what you said.

It states...the best part (was) how someone was raped.....

No you are wrong.

It actually states how the best part was the drama off-screan which you chose to totally ignore.

I did not say the best part was how someone was raped.

The gay guy on the show doesn't look self-loathing to me. He looks like he's trying to work through all the psychological damage done to him by the "therapy" he underwent. I think it would be smart to show him some compassion.

Apparently he does seem to be sorting through some issues, since I think I heard him say something along the lines of "i haven't seen any guys I think are cute" regarding his house-mates.

damaged goods or not, he's goods nonetheless re: THE REAL WORLD: Denver.

I thought it was kinda funny when he was talking about being a stripper for a woman's 50th birthday. what's his name? i'd rather refer to them by name because i feel kind of dumb calling them "the gay guy", etc.

After Seattle the show just sucked and really got into the stereotypes. Although, I may have to watch this season, the people on the show make me feel better about myself.

I think it's cute that MTV can be so Gay-supportive and yet still roll out the "Anti-Gay Bigot" on it's shows! Oh, we all can use the hateful ignorant guy to learn to be better people--after we hear him spout his ignorant crap on national TV week after week! I wonder what the outcry would be if there was a straight-up white supremecist in the house?
