TNT's Grammar Issues

Since I have nothing better to do with my time, I wrote an email to TNT informing them that their new slogan "More Movies... Less Commercials" was in fact grammatically incorrect and made them look silly. Additionally, I feared for viewers who might assume the word "fewer" is now obsolete. I received this response from their feedback department:

"The slogan "More Movies, Less Commercials" is intentional. We used it to hearken back to the 10 Items or Less signs you would see in grocery stores. We understand that this is not considered proper grammar. We apologize for any frustration this may cause."

So they don't care about grammar. They'll just be wrong! So there! The supermarkets are to blame! I am just so glad they apologized for my frustration. I feel so much better now.

Grammar is importanter. I like they're movies alot, but I am not watching if there grammar isn't better.

Ugh, Joe, your talking about they're grammer, not they're grammar!

re: TNT's Grammar Issues

I see analogies aren't their strong suit, either. Why do they want to evoke the image of a supermarket express lane?

re: TNT's Grammar Issues

Even if they do want to evoke supermarkets, they haven't.

I don't see the slightest connection between their slogan and the supermarket signs.

Now, if they said "Three Commercials or Less" or some such, I might see the sense of it.

I guess this is why God gave us TCM.

re: TNT's Grammar Issues

What I don't understand is why they think they are "hearkening back" to that time. Granted, I get my groceries delivered so I rarely set foot in a supermarket, but they still have express lanes, do they not?

I thought this had something to do with Kelsey voting for McCain.
"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."

"In Oz, the verb is douchifizzation." PRS

The first analogy that popped in my mind was not grocery express lanes, but beer slogans:
Tastes Great, Less Filling

Um, OK, I'm not seeing the connection there. I think some twit didn't want to put a lot of effort into the slogan.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

I'm not seeing the connection either. It's just lazy.

they should have done, "great movies, less commercials" and had some retired sports stars argue about which was more important.

I don't see the connection to supermarkets either -- I think you should send a follow-up letter -- see how far you can take it. :)

Poor grammar is everywhere, and those who make excuses for it generally don't really know what is correct and what isn't themselves. I'll bet anything that the responder had no idea their slogan was incorrect.
