TRADER JOE'S LOVE THREAD.

Hello,
Went to Trader Joe's last evening and it was a quick line. I love this market. I just wish they moved one uptown in my area. It is so far away but the food and prices are so great, it is worth the long shlep.

I LOVE TRADER JOE'S.
PS Always check the receipt they charged me twice for an item.
They overcharged me $1.29.

One just opened near us & we go frequently

I have been going literally my whole life (they first opened up near my home).

For years I was trying to explain the TJ love - when it finally expanded to NoCal and then to other states others were finally able under understand the love.

Edit: If was first called Pronto Markets when it opened.

They finally opened the new one about one mile from us on Friday - and we've already been there twice.

I've never been, but there's a huge billboard that I pass all teh time, with the giant 3-D cow head. It freaks me out a little.

My favorite store! These are the things I always buy there, plus whatever I see that I may want to try:

coffee (thanks, hen)
nuts
pizza marguerita
Belgian chocolate
orange chicken
mini beef tacos

The one on 14h is an easy walk for me, but not when I'm loaded down with shopping bags-then I take a bus. They also have pretty cheap delivery.

Ah. Home of the Candy Cane Joe Joe.

I love this store. Their jumbo frozen shrimp is delicious and they have a great selection of nuts (the raw almonds are the best).

Love it. They don't have quite the selection of organic food that Whole Foods does, but what they do have is significantly lower in price.

The one major feature for me at TJ's is that the line is ALWAYS quick, even if it snakes all around the store.

I made the best dish today.
I took the frozen orange chicken. I marinated it for 2 hours with a tiny amount of ginger. Then I steamed it with snowpeas, carrots, waterchestnuts and peas. I added a tablespoon of ginger dressing and steamed it in the microwave.
It was really delish.

The one thing I don't like at Trader Joe's is their fruit...and I gave it a shot three times. I'm better off at Waldbaums. If I feel like splurging on organic fruit, I'll go to Wild by Nature, which never disappoints.

Corine, I think I buy a different orange chicken. Mine is already breaded and fried. All you have to do is saute it a few minutes and put the sauce on. YUM!

I loathe Trader Joe's. Quirky for no reason and an "eclectic" selection of items that ensures only one thing: that you won't find everything you need while grocery shopping and you'll have to search through a whole lotta stuff you don't. Plus, they charge you twice for items. I've gone in at least a half a dozen times because I was in the area and I needed a few quick staples. Each time I ended up with one thing in my basket that I didn't go in there looking for but "looked good" and couldn't find what I needed. Then I'd see the stupid lines and the stupid employees in their stupid tropical shirts and I would return the item I wasn't looking for in the first place and put the basket where I got it and went to Whole Foods to get what I needed in the first place.

Also, the Vitamin Water is $1.19 a bottle...the cheapest non-sale price I've seen so far. And they always have my flavor (lemonade/multi-v).

I bought that yesterday. I steamed it.
And added veggies and ginger. It is really good. The calorie count is pretty low for steamed chinese food. I think mine is baked not fried.

Namo, the tropical shirts are silly but the employees (at the location I go to) have always been really friendly and helpful. I don't do regular grocery shopping there, though. There are a select couple of things I get and that's it.

Oh my gosh Corine.. how funny. The lesbians out here also love Trader Joe's. You must all talk about it in your get togethers. I like Trader Joes for some things. Their wine selecction in the West is wonderful. And their fish selection is very varied.

But Namo is correct. They charged me twice for the same product. I realized it when I was on the crosstown bus home. They overcharged me three dollars but I had two heavy bags and it would have been to difficult to get off the bus at that point.

Other than being overcharged I really love the asian food.
I can't find asian food like that at Fairway and chinatown is a bigger shlep.

I really must have been asian in another life. I adore all asian food and asian people.
The shrimp dumplings from Trader Joe's is as good as the best dumplings at Shun Lee. A bag costs less than 4 dumplings at Shun Lee.

I need to marry a sexy asian man. One that can make sushi.
I need to marry a sushi chef.
