Make sure you get the warranty. My dad's coworker dropped his in a pool and had to buy a replacement. Two days later, it was stolen. He has to have it for work, but they only covered the cost of the first one. The other two were out of his pocket.

Good for you. re: TREO 650 Too many people insist it won't happen to them...and then it does.

The Treo comes with a screen cover (you cut it to your Treo's specifications). I got my 650 in Feb and did not need to replace it. However, my case covers the screen, so it is protected that way as well. I have two cases- one that's a wallet that doesn't protect the screen and the other that's the Body Glove one (which I like better). The Body Glove plastic over the screen is a bit rigid at first, but it gets softer. I'm sure there are other brand cases that serve the same purpose. Bottom line, if you get a case that protects the screen, you won't need more protector things.

Actually; a body glove is what I am considering getting for it. I also need to get a car charger. My guess is it doesn't come with it?

I too am joining the Treo generation - my 650 was ordered yesterday. My brother strongly recommends the insurance too (he is on his 4th Treo in 30 months). He's dropped it, lost it in a cab, and another wore out from overuse.

Work colleagues have mandated that I get a Blackberry (or similar product). So I opted for the Treo so I can ditch the Palm PDA and cellphone that I carry now. Work is paying for for 650 as well as paying for the phone coverage; I have to pay for the internet part of the bill.

The blog at the Treonauts site is also helpful, Dame. It also has reviews of accessories, software, etc to make your Treo experience all the better.

Dame, it is exciting! Yes, you will need to purchase the car charger. I've found that the battery holds its charge pretty well and I have yet to use my car charger. It's definitely good to have, though.

regardless of what case you get - I strongly suggest you buy screen savers - and NOT use the one that comes with the treo itself. The one that comes with the treo is pretty thick and not 100 percent clear.

Here's a link to a great type of screen protector:

Thanks Craig. Just placed a order. I am counting on all of you when it gets here to help me set it up. I already read the manual on line.. so I am more or less ready.

Talk about technology - I will sometimes dictate a letter to my secretary and she uses short hand.

They have some great deals. You can trade in your older one and also get a rebate if you sign a years contract. I am not going to pay for the internet service on mine ( work will). But if they hadn't I wouldn't have opted for that part. Believe me.. I am on the internet enough.

Yes and I love it. I am still learning how to do certain things.. and I have not set up the e mail account yet. Just got a new case for it today .. since I hated the other one I got. This one is a body glove. I also went through about 4 of those plastic screensaver things before I got it on right. Love the Treo.

Take any pictures with it yet? I love the pictures it takes, even though the resolution is not as good as my digital camera.

Word of caution if you sync the phone at your office: It will load ALL your pictures onto your desktop--ALL!--unless you program the desktop software NOT to.

(Discovered this the, um, hard way.)

Yes.. I also discovered this the hard way yesterday...

Love the camera and I have also transfered some pictures into it.. so that when certain people call there smiling faces appear. Love it.
