Taking A Gap Year

So, I've always been the kid who is looking forward to going to college and all that..but recently I've been thinking about taking a year off and moving to New York with a couple of friends and try and get an agent and work. I want to be a casting director eventually so I think geting an interniship somewhere would be extremely helpful and I also want to just spend a year auditioning. Thoughts ?

when you say 'spend a year auditioning' do you mean you want to be on audition panels, or you want to be auditioning for shows yourself?

See if you can apply to a school but then defer for a year. That way, you are guaranteed a spot after a year, in case the whole audition thing does not work out.
