RedHot, thanks - and it's all true! :)
Can I get an "AMEN"? "AMEN!!!"
And never, ever let ANYONE try to separate you from the love of the One who created you!
Double Amen!!!
Wow Heart that was said wonderfuly!
It's sad how much ignorance there is in this world and how it leads to such hatred.
Quoting the Bible or not, in the end I cannot wrap my mind around a concept of God who would actually care who I loved. I don't understand a God who is angry at me because I share my life and my heart with another man. I can't even understand a God who would be even slightly pissed at all the sex I've had in my life.
It just doesn't make sense.
Also, please be careful when throwing the term 'homosexuality' around. Until the end of the 19th Century, there was no such concept of homo or heterosexuality, as an a sexual identification that brings along with it a lot of baggage regarding gender roles.
"How long have you been attending Mass at this church? How did you find out about it?"
I've been going to the church for over a year now. A friend, who is also a member, told me about it.
I've been continually amazed at what a unique church it really is. Just last week the rector of the church, a middle aged white woman (Not Lesley), volunteered, for the second year in a row, to work the white party in Miami (a gay circuit party), so that more of the proceeds could go to Care Resource, South Florida's oldest and largest HIV/AIDS service organization. I've never met another Rector of any church that would do that.

Also, in the Christian Church, same-sex couples were revered for many years.
I agree, RobbieJ - I can't comprehend a God that would care with whom you shared your life. As far as sexual promiscuity, that is entirely subjective, and the original biblical intent of "downing" it was to allow people to have self-respect and good health. It was never a "judgment".
You cannot legislate morality, whether it's in a political context or a spiritual one!
"Yes, please take it - far away from me."
What does that mean?
THIS is the kind of christian that i aspire to be. i am sending this to my pastor. i am a member of a presbyterian church that is in the process of taking the "presbyterian" label off and replacing it with "community".
my pastor is a wonderful, intelligent man who has had some horrendous hurdles with his congregation. last year he was very nearly released from his position by the presbytery because of his liberal teachings (specifically about homosexuality). this is a shame because he has so much to teach.
although i am not gay, i used to attend a primarily gay church because there seemed to be much less judgement amongst the congregation. after moving i found my current church. i met my pastor at barnes and noble. he is a long distance runner/bicyclist and we had a lengthy conversation about fitness and nature before i discovered his profession.
anyway, i just wanted to say thanks for posting that.
"and the people all said 'sit down, sit down, you're rockin' the boat'"
let's rock the boat! :)
That was GREAT!
I believe God loves everyone, no matter your age, race, sex(o lack thereof) and orrientation.
