I was just wondering if anyone else is taking a year off before going to college (or a conservatory)? I am, but I will doing private training (voice, dance, and acting lessons), and I will be in an Opera and a christmas show, so I will be using my time well. I was just wondering if any other people were taking time off to?

I don't graduate until next year, but I'm not taking a year off. I wouldn't really want to.

Well, I'm already in college. I got two years over with at my local community college, but now Im just taking a year/semester off. My reason is because I'm not exacly sure which school is right for me. I definatly know that I want to go for Acting, but everything was such a rush when I was in school. So, I've decided to take a year off...earn some money, research schools, take as many acting/theater workshops as I can and expand my resume. Its tough because they say that once you're taking a break..your not going to want to get back to school. But strangely enough, I cant wait to find the right school and go there because I know its what I really want.

Might I offer one last word. Some advice I wish I heard. If spending makes you feel alive. DIE before the bills arrive!!

skatergal99- I agree with you, about how they say once you take time off you won't want to go back, but even though I just graduated I am looking forward to going to a conservatory.

I am really spending my time looking for the right place and choosing the right audition material. I am also to young for one of the programs I am interested in (I graduated a year early). Plus, I am fortunate enough to have already been cast in an Opera at a year round opera comapany in NY, so I feel lucky to already be working. I guess it makes a difference in taking time off.
