Okay- since I was a big fan of Fame since the original movie, I have always been a fan of these types of shows. However, I thought this one was horrible. It's produced by Nick Lachey. The opener talks about how famous people attended this high school of performing arts in Cincinatti- yet it could only name 2- Nick and Sarah Jessica Parker! I thought a lot of the show seemed like such a setup- like the kids knew where the cameras were. Then they had this talent show at the school and one of the judges was a Jive record producer? It just wasn't very real. The girl, Mia, was pretty talented though.
When I first heard about the show, I thought it was going to be about following some performers around trying to "make it" -- showing the struggles of auditioning and landing a job and surviving. WRONG.
I hated the show. Such a disappointment.
I actually stuck a note on my computer to remember to watch it. As more commercials were shown, I was getting a bit less excited. I didn't see it but will try to catch a re-run if there is one this weekend. Something told me that it may not be that good.
I hated it, but I am probably going to watch it again. Haha. It's a little bit addicting... Mia IS extremely talented. She is definitely the most talented out of the whole bunch. Please tell me someone is going to watch is this week...?!?
I recorded it on my DVR. I was really looking forwarded to this show thought it would something similar to what CapnHook decribed. I watched the first segment and then deleted it. It was dreadful!
just watched the first five minutes of it and was very disappointed!! seems like it's scripted (no doubt it is). and i hated how the ballet was so out of... whack. i've never seen a ballet class start center unless they were doing all of their barre work at center. oy.
I agree with what everyone said about this. I was looking forward to it, but It just came across as forced and scripted. I don't even know if I can watch it again!
Totally not what I thought it was gonna be. I think I'll pass.
Oh, come on! You guys are no fun... I embrace the cheese.

I saw a few minutes of one episode. I kind of hate how it's mostly dancers and one folk singer. You're telling me you couldn't find an actor or musician somewhere?
Did anyone hear about the show choir reality show MTV was creating? There was a trailer released, but the actual show never premiered. I was looking forward to that, to be honest.

I haven't gotten to see it, but the first episode was followed by my entire facebook status feed consisting of my HS friends saying that this school was a total rip-off of LaGuardia.
This show's more contrived than The Hills.

^ my thoughts exactly! I caught a re-run of the first episode today during a break from class and it was just awful! It was even more obviously scripted than the Hills is, and though it is interesting to see a performing arts high school, it's just too fake to even be enjoyable. Laaaaaame.
Oh, SO scripted! I loved when the new guy was watching the girl while she danced alone and then she taught him ballet- as if that really happened!!!
I'd like it better if there were theatre kids on it. I'll watch it again though, because I'm jealous of people at performing arts schools :P
