An interview Larry King did with Tammy yesterday is currently airing on CNN. It's heartbreaking to watch. She's only 65 lbs, but her spirits are high. I wish all of the best for her.
Agreed..it is very hard to watch but I applaud her courage for wanting to do it.
I was in tears by the end of the clip he showed last night and I'm in the same state right now.
It broke my heart to see her like that.
What an amazing woman. All of the scandal was before my time, but I have learned about it and understand everything she has been through. She's a strong woman to face all of those experiences and now to face this.
Highlights from cnn.com
She kind of looks like Betty Davis when she was old.
I love her quote "I want you to find peace. I want you to find joy" She is putting up such a gallant battle. Best wishes and prayers.
Peace to her. I kept thinking Judy Davis could play her in a movie.
wasn't there already one with Bernadette Peters?

Look for AC Tammy Faye in Provincetown next summer.

I agree. It was heartbreaking to see her like that. It's clear that she is suffering greatly.
As bad as she looked I saw the traces of the old Tammy Faye when she would smile or laugh. I will admit it. I cried a number of times during the interview. She has such grace and composure and I hope that things stay even for her.
She's a good person with a big heart. And I'm glad she passed on her acceptance of gay and lesbian people onto her son. Both of them are true Christians.
zepka102, you should go out and rent "The Eyes of Tammy Faye". Its a wonderful documentary about her. She is the evangelical christian that I know of who actually walks the walk. Theres a great quote from the movie:
"We're all made from the same dirt and God didn't make any junk!"
“Gays Rescued Me,” Says Tammy Faye.
Tammy Faye Messner made an appearance on Larry King last night. Hopefully you all had a chance to hear what she had to say - if not, you’re in luck, because reader Alan sent along this collection of clips from the interview, including Tammy Faye discussing how the gays lent her a helping hand after Jim Bakker ****ed her over.
Son Jay also points out that Tammy Faye helped provide the bridge between the Evangelical movement and gay churches, particularly Troy Perry’s Metropolitan Community Church. Even if you’re not Christian or religious in any way, shape or form, you can’t deny Tammy Faye’s impact on our world. And, despite the terminal cancer, she’s still as cheery as ever. And her eyelashes still look swell!
Here’s the transcript of Tammy Faye’s appearance. Read it and weep - literally, it’s heartbreaking

Thanks for this thread!
I did a complete 180. For a few minutes, I thought it a new low in exploitation, particularly after the interminable portrait of the Baldwin addiction the night before. But I changed my mind early.
We live in a society that looks away from the deterioration of the body, from disease in general, and even old age. We think it unseemly. Watching this particular woman fight to continue revealing her true self reminded me that I'm as guilty as anyone of expecting air-brushed television.

Okay, good point.
I agree to a point, Auggie, except for the fact that she still piled on the make up and had a horrible wig on. I admire her so much, but wish she hadn't tried so hard.
And Ivan, that comparison to BettE Davis was just rude.
some of the makeup is permanent..she had eyeliner and lip liner permanently tattooed ages ago
Yeah...the Bette Davis thing was pretty f*cking wrong. God help us if she was 'dark'.
I couldn't watch the interview. I saw two seconds of her, and I just couldn't. Reminded me too much of watching people close to me going through the same kind of death.
I understand your point, Sue, but, at the same time, there's certainly something touching about her wanting to continue to put forth her Tammy Faye-ness, even at this stage. Poignant...and even a little brave. At least, I think so.
Oh, I agree. It was very sweet. But I just wish her people had done a better job.

Why is the Davis comparison so awful? I don't get it.
I watched it while I was at work and was a MESS!!! Best wish's to her and her family

Tammy Faye is unbelievably nice. So tolerant and open-minded and completely awesome. It really sucks to see her like this.
I saw one of my aunts go through something similar last year. Really not cool.
And the interview really wasn't helped by Larry King's abominable interviewing skills. How on earth is this man still working?
"If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?"
"I don't think about things like that. It's a waste of good brain space."
"Yeah but what about the PTO club."

I could hardly watch it. She's at peace now.
How can anyone NOT feel for this woman? She brought cancer front and center....in your face. Not like most celebs who hide everything to keep their personna in tact. Brilliant woman. May she be at rest now.
Because of her courage through all of this, the LAST thing that I will remember about her will be her eyelashes or makeup.
Go Tammy!
I believe that's PTL Club, Cruel.
