Target's "Black Friday" Commercials

Has anyone noticed the conspicuously placed gay boy Target is featuring in these ads. In one--which seems to be a parody of that noxious tune "It's Friday!", he actually says something about inviting his friend Trevor because "he's hot".

One one hand, I'm glad to see gays are being included in Target's target audience, but the fact that this kid is such an arrant stereotype annoys me.

Your thoughts?

I haven't seen the commercial, but comments like yours make me wonder what it must feel like to be taunted in one's youth for being obviously gay to grow up and then be told you aren't a person, but a stereotype.

We were worried that you were one of those crazy old people who refuse to leave and put first responders at greater risk.

The guy is reading (singing) a text from a girl... I dunno, it's an annoying commercial but I don't really see it as offensive (the girl is at least as annoying as the guy).

If it is, it's beautiful that Dollypop confused a parody of "Do You Hear What I Hear?" with a parody of "Friday."

Eric, that's not the commercial I'm referring to. This is one where there's quite a bit of singing and the girls sound like Valley Girls. The boy definitely refers to getting Trevor to join them "because he's hot".

ZombieDollypop is a lot like 30Rock's Jenna Mulroney: if an actor is over 25, ZDP's brain processes him as a clump of pixels that reinforce "stereotypes." Under that age, ZDP sees him as a remarkably brave fully-realized young man with under-appreciated talent whose dedication to his church community should inspire everybody, even those of you unlucky enough not to have a close, intimate relationship like ZDP has with the young and über-talented kid whose personal life is nobody else's business.

Personally, I hope to see Trevor in an upcoming commercial to judge hotness for myself.
