Holy f*cking sh*t!
Go see this movie. I just got back and it's amazing. There's even a very Avenue Q-esque sex scene...well, without the singing. BUT SEE IT!!!
Did anybody else see it?

I was kinda disappointed by it. It had a lot of good ideas, but the execution was off. The sex scene, however, was...interesting. Funny I saw it the day after Avenue Q.

Posted: 10/16/04 at 9:58pmThat's the thing. It isn't, really. Most of it is a loving homage to Jerry Bruckheimer movies, and I can do without that, thanks. The politics are different, but they only come into it once in a while. I do like the big philosophical speech at the end, though. You'll see what I mean. Politics and potty humor, combine!

"Most of it is a loving homage to Jerry Bruckheimer movies..."
Plum, no wonder you hated it. Trey and Matt said in interview that it's a parody of Bruckheimer-esque movies. How could think it was really an homage? The explosions, etc. were so ridiculously incorporated, I don't see how you couldn't have viewed it as a parody.
But as many people have - or at least should have - said in countless Wicked/Idina love/hate threads, to each his own.
Regardless, the speech at the end WAS excellent.

As a big fan of the South Park T.V. series as well as the South Park movie I was really looking forward to this. I saw it today and was disappointed big time. It's really not very good. The novelty of the puppets wears thin after about 15 minutes. I expected it to be a lot funnier than it was. The friend I saw it with liked it even less than I did. And after the first half hour the audience just seemed bored.
On a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a 4. And I'm being generous.

I think it's gotten to the point where Bruckheimer movies are a self-parody, so Team America: World Police was kind of pointless in that regard.
Like I said, the movie had some good ideas, but something was off. And I think that the way the lefty celebrities acted went too far- the best parody is an exaggeration of actual behavior, and I just can't see Alec Baldwin and Co. even beginning to sympathize with Kim Jong-Il.
I have to say, the "Pearl Harbor" song's lyrics were brilliant, though. Too bad more of the movie couldn't be like that.
say what?
