Thank You For Smoking

A really well-done satire. You should definitely see it if you have the chance.

Everything I've heard about this film has been positive. Looking forward to seeing it.

re: Thank You For Smoking

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this. Hmmm, maybe next week sometime. I was hoping to catch it while I was home this past week, but it was nowhere to be found at the local theaters.
But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

re: Thank You For Smoking

I saw it last week and absolutely loved it. It differs quite a bit from the novel it's based on, but the majority of the changes serve to make the story more realistic and funny without being wacky in the way that the end of the novel was. My only major issue with the film is that Katie Holmes was seriously miscast in her role.

Loved it. Best movie I've seen in the past several months. Great work by all, including Holmes. Aaron Eckhart (so far, my only candidate for Best Actor) and Rob Lowe were the standouts.

re: Thank You For Smoking

I loved this movie.

I wish the part of the journalist was played by someone else...I just don't think Katie Holmes is a good actress. She's always exactly the same.

Definitely loved Eckhart, though.

The book was laugh out loud funny. (people looking at you strangely on the subway) Looking forward to seeing the film.

re: Thank You For Smoking

Okay, since no one else has said it, I've got to make sure people don't expect too much of this film.

While I went in and was entertained, this film CERTAINLY is not anything you go to if you want to learn anything about humanity, history, or...well...anything. This film is 100% about getting a good laugh about two dimensional representations of "spin".

Not a BAD film per se (certainly better than most of this years studio drop offs), but definately not going to be in my top ten of this year.

SUCH A FUNNY MOVIE!!!

I didn't think Katie Holmes was miscast - I thought she was fine.

It's a good movie - lots of laughs.

I saw this last night and loved it. It was really funny. I loved Rob Lowe's character. I was actually laughing out loud so many times in the movie.

re: Thank You For Smoking

I wouldn't call Katie Holmes miscast, either; she just seemed a little too naive for the part. *MINI-SPOILER* I didn't believe her as a seductress at all.

Maggie Gyllenhaal would have been perfect for the role.

I can't wait to see it, oh look at all the good reviews =)

Saw it tonight. This movie was hilarious. Eckhart hasn't been so perfectly cast since IN THE COMPANY OF MEN.

..and he's yummy. Loved him in Erin Brockovitch.
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

re: Thank You For Smoking

Anyone know how big the kid's role is in this movie? The actor's name is Cameron Bright. (Photo above) I was one of his studio teachers when he was shooting the film, and I'm curious to see how it came out. (I'm not a certified studio teacher or anything, but a friend of mine is, and she had the film subcontract me to tutor him in French, as he's Canadian, and it's a required class there, and my friend doesn't speak it at all. It was a really fun experience.)

Anyway, does he have a significant role? Just wondering...

re: Thank You For Smoking

Yes, he probably the second biggest role in the movie

re: Thank You For Smoking

Oh! Cool! I should probably make a point to go see it, then. =)

He was a nice kid. I worked with him for about 6 weeks, I guess...

Thanks, Caitie!

re: Thank You For Smoking

I saw this movie last night, and I couldn't stop laughing! The humor was witty and smart, not dumb like in a lot of recent comedies.
