more parade people. Being dressed up as "a tribute to Jean Carson" as Fun Girl Daphne was NOT my idea .
how do y'all post more than one pic per post? using [img} code in the body didn't work, just putting a bunch of URLs down in the image box didn't work either

thanx for all the glowing compliments guys!! ^^ This is who I was supposed to be. I had never been to Mayberry Days before, and I'm not really a crazy fanatic like most of the peeps there, I just agreed to go along to assist someone who was doing a book signing and help drive.
Jean Carson had just died and her son was doing a tribute of film clips etc. to her, and I was really uncomfortable with the whole idea of "playing dress up". But her son was all over the idea and "styled" me. I had to work on the voice, but once I got out there with the Goober character, he was really excellent and we played off each other. We did the whole parade together - I did 3 miles in those heels.

I always hated this show...is that un-American?
I did love Mayberry RFD, but only for Ken Berry's arms.

Yes, it's un-American. You must leave now.
Sorry you hated it, doodle! That's clearly because you grew up in Hell with Pazuzu, and you have nothing to relate to.

another shot - the lady who does Aunt Bea never speaks. guess she can't do the voice and doesn't want to ruin the illusion.

Chevi, I want your legs!
Besty, can you imagine us at that parade? You could make a pitcher of your Margaritas and we could "sneak" them to the parade in milk cartons. We can have Chevi stop by to "sign autographs" and give her a "glass of milk."

MAYBERRY DAYS 2008
the 3 days of solid rain combined w/ gas prices (or total lack of gas) killed the festival this yr.

here we are with Aunt Bea.
that Barney is considered "second string" Barney. The REAL Barney hardly talks to commoners like us.

Andy is easily one of my top five favorites and best, you're right--the show can be surprisingly complex. The "Opie the Bird Man" episode is terrific!
I was watching a PBS special about sitcoms and Andy Griffith was one of the featured series, and it talked about how Andy in the first season was quite broad and country and once he saw all the quirky characters around him, he toned it down to become the solid center.
He also chose not to have a laugh track so he wouldn't be tempted to write scripts that were just jokes, and not filming with a studio audience allowed him to create the world of Mayberry on real locations.
Love any episode where Barney sings and the best one is the one with Aunt Bea's pickles.
Those Don Knotts movies ARE great and quite liberal for the time--notice the number of minority cast members in small roles and crowd scenes. And alot of Andy Griffith Show cast members found themselves in those movies.
