"NEW YORK (AP) -- Sometimes it takes only a word, or just a few, to become immortalized in television history.
The TV Land cable network has compiled a list of the 100 greatest catchphrases in TV, from the serious -- Walter Cronkite's nightly signoff "And that's the way it is" -- to the silly: "We are two wild and crazy guys!"
The network will air a countdown special, "The 10

Yes...Fonzie is on there!
I was just thinking, "it can't be a TV catchphrase list without the Fonz."
:)
"Yes, the brutalities of progress are called revolutions. When they are over, men recognize that the human race has been harshly treated but it has moved forward." - Les Miserables
I can't believe they didn't include "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up!"

There are about a hundred tv commercials that they've missed. That should be a list all by itself.
"No "Kiss my grits?"
I'm surprised they didn't include this one.
This list made me SO happy! A lot of my favorites were there, and even some that I had forgotten about. My favorite Get Smart quote that didn't get included: "This is KAOS!"
Wait Emeril's "Bam" but Urkel's "Did I do that?" Didn't make the cut? Kiss my grits, thats a crime.
At least two "Seinfeld" phrases made it. Then again, you'd need a separate list for just "Seinfeld" phrases.

Gotta say, I've heard of nearly all the list except the Dave Chappelle-Rick James one. Didn't watch most, but that just goes to reinforce their point.
Where's "he likes it, hey Mikey!", or "who killed JR?"
I've never even heard of "Kiss my grits!"
Child.
I instantly lamented the absence of any quotes from 'Alice' as well.'

You've just entered the Twilight Zone (Twilight Zone)
Abner! Abner! (Bewitched)
Oh my stars! (Bewitched)
I'm pickin' and I'm grinin' (Hee Haw)
Ah-one and Ah-two (Lawrence Welk)

I'd also replace the Brady Bunch with either
"Marcia, Marcia, Marcia" or "Mom always said, Don't play ball in the house".

How did a quote from the OC make it and not "Just Jack" from Emmy winning W&G???
I'm glad Raymond made the list, though I'm not entirely sure if that phrase ("Holy Crap") was the invention of the show.
Raymond made the list????? Um, something is wrong here.
I never heard "holy crap" before Raymond, and I say it all the time.
As long as they had "How you doin'?" I knew I would be happy
A question--why didn't they pick "One of these days, Alice..." from The Honeymooners? That seems to be the more famous line to me.
"Holy crap" still doesnt surpass some of the egregiously overlooked.
SM2, how do you not know "kiss my grits?" I'm a young'n and I know that one!
How can we trust a list that doesn't even include Lucy? As Wanda Spark once said, "Everybody loves Raymond, except me!"
Doesn't "catchphrase" mean a phrase that's made it into the vernacular? You don't go around saying "It tastes just like candy!" on a regular basis.
Oh, wait. Forgot the company I'm keeping.
justagirl2: I don't know. I've never come across anyone who's uttered it. What show/movie is it from?
I just don't understand the criteria for this list. How did Urkel get the shaft? I wasn't around for Lucy's peak, but "Lucy, I'm Home," her "Ewwww," "Lucy you got some splainin' to do" must have made it to the water cooler right?
