It's taken me a week to post this but, like I said, the England team are over-rated. And over-hyped.
The same thing happens at every international tournament. They go in on a wave of massive expectation, but the individual world class players do not play as a team. The problem is well diagnosed and rooted in the structure of the way regional football clubs (profit making organisations) fail to release their members to the (non-profit making) national team.
And no one does anything about it.
And so the failure to achieve anything as a national team continues....
