I think my favorite headline is: 'the best tie since Bunker Hill'.
The German players looked so young compared to the Aussie team. The sports announcers kept saying how Germany had the 2nd youngest team and how the Aussies had the 2nd oldest, is the age difference btwn the two teams that dramatic?
either way it was a hell of a game.
The Australian coach was so stone-faced the entire match. It actually could have been worse. Same for the Denmark-Netherlands result.
Disappointing result for Camaroon but great play by Japan.
Really on edge for later this week. Slovenia is a Cinderella story so I am having trepidation about them being our post-England matchup, especially since they got the 3 points.
they need to ban those vuzulers - those horns sound like swarming bees and by the time the match is done i have a head ache.
I love the vuvuzelas mostly because they annoy people. Hearing the complaining about them is more annoying then hearing them, at least for me. I can understand the hell of being around them live but there is a mute button on the remote for a reason.
Grrrrr........ to borrow from Billy Bragg. The USA continued their winning streak beating Slovenia 2-2. What a strange day. Do not tell that was off-sides. I know they blew many scoring opportunities throughout the match but.... cannot. compute. effed. up. call. That said, I could have done without the whining in the last ten minutes of the match and after that could have easily been discipline-worthy.
GO ALGERIA! GO DRAW! PLEASE!
England looked like they didn't have a clue. Were they all playing a different game? Only about 4 of 5 of those men are really no brainer choices to be on the team.
We wuz robbed! What should have been an epic, memorable victory was marred by a phantom call by a ref who had already had an awful day. We should be on top of the group, needing only a tie against Algeria to advance. That said, we still control our own destiny, and if we can't beat Algeria, we don't deserve to advance. We need to carry that passion we exhibited in the second half into our next match (Wednesday, 10AM eastern).
Also, this is a glaring exception in an otherwise very well officiated tournament, so far.
YIP YIP YIP! their game still has to pick up, but we will take the win!
those fans dressed like soldiers of the Crusades and espcially the Boer War (aka Michael Kane in Zulu) i wish they would stop that provacation at a world event
What a game! What a goal! We overcame another disallowed goal on a bad call, to score in stoppage time, and WIN THE GROUP!
I really cannot believe it. It was not that I was disillusioned by the disallowed goal but the near chances and the fact some players **cough** Michael and Jozy **cough** were running like their heads cut off in complete panic. Though completely blaming it on the refs would be sooooooooo 2002 World Cup, that would have sadly been the story of the team, if not for Landon's extra time goal, with Clint Dempsey's bloody face being the poster child of bad luck, bad calls, and missed chances.
BUT WE WON AND IT FEELS GREAT!
"What a game! What a goal! We overcame another disallowed goal on a bad call, to score in stoppage time, and WIN THE GROUP!"
that was great to see.
I'm a gonna make you a shirt!! lol
Our next game: Saturday @ 2:30PM (eastern) versus Ghana.
I am uber excited for the Argentina vs. Mexico game on Sunday. Gonzalo Higuaín is 100% delish!
I personally think Lionel Messi is as cute as a button and he certainly has the game:

^^^I agree strummergirl but Higuain is HOT and his game is pretty good too!
I'm a sad panda and despite the outrageous acting by Inkoom, I cannot say we were robbed. Ghana outplayed us and Bradley made substitutions that proved that the trouble is he cannot make a proper starting lineup. Same old song and dance waking up in the second half, playing from behind, etc. Too many chances like Michael Bradley's weak shot right at the keeper. Donovan and Howard can only do so much. Altidore, Bornstein, and Bradley played terribly. Feilhaber should have started. Ah well. I know the skeptics are out again about soccer catching on here but I am more concerned with our players developing overseas. No coincidence our best play in the best leagues. The MLS is founded on faulty rules and concepts along with being poorly advertised to the wrong kind of audience who could attach themselves to the sport. Enough with my ranting, I still love you, Timmy. I am proud of the players, the coaching is another story.

Another glaring mistake by the officials in this morning's Engand vs Germany game. Germany took a 2-0 lead, England got one back to make it 2-1, then England took a shot that hit the crossbar and landed clearly over the line. However, the refs missed the call, didn't allow the goal, and England trails 2-1 at the half. If this score stands, expect more outcry about the standards of officiating, and the absence of replay.
let's go Oranje! i think it's going to come down to Germany vs. Netherlands. it'll be a good game but sadly i think Germany has too much momentum going to lose. they have been playing excellent. i thought the game today against Argentina would have been a good close game. nope. just murdered them the whole time.
how bout Uruguay's 2nd goalie? that was so cheap. i hope we destroy them on Tuesday.
^^^Argentina was slaughtered! I also thought it was going to be a close fight but Argentina was lost and slow the whole time. No more purdy Pipita to look at, sigh.
