Posted: 5/5/06 at 11:20amOk so I just bought this book yesterday and it's amazing! I'm already in Ch. 2 (I know it's not that far, but it's pretty good based on the amount of time I have to read) and it pretty much just tells you tips and advice on acting. It has different categories for TV, Film, Commerical, Broadway, Theatre, etc. It's mainly based on Theatre and Broadway, but it's really good! The first chapter is pretty much based on what to do to make a good impression for an audition and of course what not to do. It has some really neat stuff in it. The author, Ed Hooks, has been a pro actor for over thirty years. He has written several other books. He has been in numerous stage productions, over 150 TV Commericals and about 100 TV Shows. He teaches some of the most popular professional acting classes in Chicago. I would highly recommend this book to simply keep with you. It has alot of stuff like "how to cry on cue" "how to handle a request for nudity" "what to do if you make a mistake during a performance" "the best method for memorizing lines" "how to play a convincing drunk" "how to play a different sexual orientation" and a ton of other things! Really good..so I just thought I would share that :)

Posted: 5/9/06 at 3:41pmlol...well I'm almost through with it and it's an amazing book. For anyone that is planning on going into the theatre, or film career I would suggest reading this book. It just gives you tips and pointers that directors won't give you.

These are things that most directors won't just come out and tell you because most of the stuff in this book are tips and notes. I just finished it this morning and it has some really good stuff in it.
