i just want to support jg2: her gf is beautiful. if i wasn't married and a man, i would totally hit on her while wearing this shirt.

The gay marraige movement is having trouble reaching success partly because of crap like this.
You didn't see Martin Luther King Jr. directing a film called "Crazy Coons" featuring crude, big-lipped stereotypes eating fried chicken and watermelon in the '60s.

YOU CAN'T COMPARE THE GAY EXPERIENCE TO THE EXPERIENCE OF ANY OTHER MINORITY! JEESH!

The Deep Dish blog has a story on the movie.
A big gay musical is just what everybody needs, don't you agree?
I'm offended by all of the manscaping.
pj, you're sacrificing the gay legacy for a little topical humor?
That guy thought the trailer was "clever"? Seriously??!!! Perhaps he doesn't know what that word means.
And the fact he's using the Gypsy overture in the clip.
GREAT way to promote your OWN MUSICAL.
Here's the email I got this morning:
"Actually I wanted to let you know... that the Tshirt is given to people that are in treatment to turn straight. That is the idea of the shirt and the scene and the song."
So I replied:
"Which is what is so offensive about it. You really need to re-think the design.
Every person I've shown this to, gay, straight, whatever, say the same thing, it's offensive.
No one I know would wear this out in public.
Why don't you come up with a BIG GAY LOGO instead of looking like you are promoting those types of conversion camps?
There's NOTHING funny about your current design."
The FAG acronym was already used by Paker and Stone for TEAM AMERICA.
It wasn't funny then, either.

That "Deep Dish" story was just a rewrite of the press release, no?

Wait, I wasn't offended by the t-shirt'scontent. Just its amateur execution and lack of originality.
i'm offended by this thread and its blatant attack on musical theatre.
And good taste...

I was much more offended by GLEE!!!
Do they have a t-shirt?
I want Matty on me...
I mean, on my chest.
Whatever.
I'm only offended that gay people, known for centuries (literally) for their artistic innovation and creativity would produce such a derivative, unoriginal film.
Replace "such a" with "yet another" and that's what I've been saying for years. Rarely is a gay independent film actually worth watching. I'm still confused by the celebratory hype over Latter Days.

As Sarah Schulman quipped after gazing upon the countless rainbow tchotchkes in the merch booths at Stonewall 25 (tm): "So goes the myth of the Gay Taste Gene."
If it offends you that much, then don't look at it.
MM,
I am with you on that.
Why is EVERY 'gay' movie so poorly done. I tried to watch some shorts recently and they were ALL about some young closted kid who had a crush on some other kid and nothing ever happened.
They are always cliche'.
Neal,
Thanks, but I've never even considered turning my back on someone who is printing FAGS on conversion t-shirts and selling them to promote their BIG GAY MUSICAL.
I have given up on American made gay movies. Foreign gay movies are much better.
I will reserve comment on the shirt and the trailer, which I don't find to be "clever" (OK so I commented!) until after I rent this movie. I already know I won't run to see this in the theater. And I have a sneaking feeling that one or both of the black characters is going to be a flaming queen. I hope I am wrong, but that usually happens. And that really ticks me off as a black gay male. I also noticed that they have closed their comments section on the website.
Funny, I guess they can't handle the fact that they screwed up.
I would never wear that T-shirt. it looks cheap. I went to the "store" section and they only had the CD for sale.
They have a fan page on Facebook, have the logo posted, and there's not one comment for or against it. I noticed quite a few of my friends were fans of the show, so I sent them a message asking if they knew the people involved and what they thought of the t-shirt...
I'm waiting to hear back.
Like I said, I can't comment on the movie until I see it, but it already looks like a stereotypical gay film. It amazes me that in all of this time gay filmmakers have not moved on to make better movies. There are a few good ones, but for the most part thay are poorly made and or acted.
