Oh my god, that is soooo dumb. For one, there is no "Sacrificing of animals or boiling things that can be considered baby's in cauldrens" is HARRY POTTER. And about the demons possessing people......well, if they are going to ban the book because of that, then they need to get rid of the Bible too because there is a lot of demon possession in the Bible. So, stupid. People like that give Christians a bad name.

"Meanwhile, Christian author Connie Neal has written a book called The Gospel According to Harry Potter, in which she contends that the sorcery so many Christians condemn in Harry Potter is only a literary device and that the books contain biblical messages that can be used to teach children about good and evil."
So true!
This explains so much, I woke up last night and found myself slaughtering my neighbors dog, at first I thought it was my deep seated hatred for the perpetually barking little doggie, but now I know its because I was posessed by the demon of Harry Potter!!

Did you boil it over a cauldron too?
My best friend's (she is about to turn 18 in a few day) parents feel that way about Harry Potter, too. Her whole family, including her, is Christian, as am I. But me an some other friends have been sneaking her the HP books for a while now. It's so ridiculous how anyone can possibly think that reading Harry Potter makes children want to sell their souls to the devil. I disagree that it's a Biblical allegory, though. A story about good and evil, yes. But I don't see any kind of scriptural messages in it. And just because a book has magic doesn't mean it's anti-Christian. The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings series, both popular Christian literature and allegories, contain the use of magic by the good guys and bad guys.
I disagree with fundamentalism on a lot of levels.
What about that talking lion in Narnia?
I went to a Christian camp and we read The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe as part of the curriculum.
Yep I went to a Catholic Prep school the Narnia series was required summer reading. (Along with about a dozen others!)
C.S .Lewis and stuff was a well-known Christian writer and he wrote the Narnia books as an attempt to create Christian-based and themed fiction for kids.

But isn't his Sci-Fi stuff kinda messed up?
(Off topic, I cannot wait for the new The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe movie!)
I don't know about his other stuff, I just read the Narnia stuff when I was a kid.
Looking forward to the movie too.
Here's another one who can't wait for the movie. Fall and Winter are looking pretty good.... We have Harry Potter, King Kong and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

What's that other one? I dunno... I can't remember anymore than that. My money's going to the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe King Kong and Harry Potter.
hmmmm not too sure C_O But those three are on my MUST list.
BluCat - You must work for Disney.
Of course the Christian Right hates Harry Potter. It's fun and popular and everyone likes it. Therefore, it is evil and MUST BE STOPPED!!!
Also looking forward to the Narnia movie.
I have a feeling King Kong is going to suck. Bad. Too much computer animation. It looks like a silly cartoon. And apparently the original story wasn't enough because they had to set half the movie in Jurassic Park. Whatever.
Yes, but really isn't there a dog hating disney employee posessed with the demonic spirit of Harry Potter, inside each and everyone one of us...Admit it folks!

Well, Spider, to be fair they don't know that, because none of them have ever read the books; they just believe what their pastors and pundits tell them to...

I'm there with Blu, that explains why I have a voodoo doll in my room and I have my spell book to curse those people.
Oh... and I'm on a personal level with the devil.
Please, give it a rest.

Just playing Devils Advocate here (I in no way support these extremists) but aren't the screaming baby plants that they have to yank out of the ground in one of the first books? Do they boil those?
I don't remember entirely, but those plants (called Mandrakes...yeah, I already know I'm a geek, shut up) were cut up and stewed after they had matured (someone said something about waiting until their "acne has cleared up.").
Yes, but if my knowledge of middle school games is correct(and it is!), then the very scientific, animal, vegtable and mineral test irrefutably proves that the aforementioned mandrakes are indeed vegtable, thus avoiding the homosapien baby boiling which was earlier alluded to...
You are absolutelty correct, but I suppose you could interpret it as harming babies in effigy, whick JK Rowling was obviously intending, because she hates babies and Christianity and apple pie and baseball and and and...
See how bloody easy it is to take things WAY out of context??
