Rose--I understand that they have not read it and are going on what others have said, but this is the point that I have been telling people (alond with my father who is a pastor):
Do no believe what others have said. If you are not smart enough to read it and make your own decision, they what you say has not credit and therefore worthless.

Oh, I know, Spider--I was just being snotty toward people who don't think for themselves. :)
My dad is an elementary school teacher, and a few years ago he had a chat with the nanny of one of his students. Harry Potter came up and the woman said that it was evil. He asked her, "Well, have you ever read the books?" and her reply was, "Oh, I don't NEED to read them."
Well, of course not, because someone else told her what to think, and she doesn't have to use that pesky brain...
