Actually Rath, what I wrote was "And. Here. We. Go. Again." Which was true. And the fact is if you look what b12b called "so many threads around here turning into the same banal 'chat room,' time after time..." (and there have been an inordinate number of them lately) 9 times out of 10 you're involved. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. Facts is facts, girlie.

Of course, rather than admit that fact that is plain to see, you'll now criticize me for "doing the very thing I criticize you for doing." Go ahead. This is but a grain of sand in the desert that is your posts. C_S at his worst drips more coo than you.

I'll repeat it again: I never was one for the ignore user function. It doesn't take that much self-control to pass over someone's posts if you don't care to read what they say. However, for those who cannot do it, the off-topic board becomes a much brighter place if a particular "adversary" or whatever of yours is removed.

Personally, I never open a thread started by anybody somebody else might perceive as my "adversary." However, I recently have opened many threads with topics that do interest me that are started by people whose names I recognize and have enjoyed reading, or whose names I don't recognize at all. And you know what has happened as I've read through the threads with topics that interest me? Exactly the scenario b12b describes, inevitably involving a person who recently said "a-FREAKING-men" about the point he made in this thread. It's that irony I was pointing out.

Well, as is stated over and over here, a lot more pleasant proceedings would go on without the chit-chat back and forth - or, at leas,t the same conversation taking place on 5 threads simultaneously. But it happens.
As was also pointed out to me when it happened on a serious thread I started, they generally tend to either peter out on their own from lack of interest in the original thread subject or it gets back on topic. So life does, fortunately, go on.
OH, and I wasn't saying "your adversary" directly at you. Damn pronouns. I meant, you know, the Queen's English "one's adversary." Life would be much better with a few more nonspecific pronouns.
As for Cruel_Sandwich, he starts a lot of threads...but I don't always open them all. If one looks interesting, ok, but I don't really feel the need to comment on every single thing he says.

in my own defense, i don't really know how far "off-topic" one can get on the off-topic board. i simply find things interesting and would like to see if others find the same things to the tickle of their fancy.

I like Cruel! I don't always agree with his opinions, but I like that he has a real passion for film and his discussions are at least mature and well-informed. There are a ton of threads much more banal than anything Cruel comes up with (I honestly don't care which celebrities are dating/divorcing). I'd just like to see him with a better haircut.

contact sueleen, she's great about organizing those kinds of things. plus she's very aware when it comes to making sure that our bundt cakes, nut bread, and muffins are not benefitting bigoted groups like the kkk or the salvation army. who knows, cruel_sandwich may be a member of the black panthers, girls scouts or some other crazed group that is a scourge on society.

I think this is a good idea, although I would be happy enough with just narrowing it down to "C_S MOVIES" thread, or "C_S Arrested Development the thread"
How about a seperate Cruel Sandwhich board?
