Rob Evan and company, including Jim Steinman fans' favorites, Bonnie Tyler and Elaine Caswell, torn the roof off of Joe's Pub Friday and Saturday night in this new Steinman vehicle. The audience loved it. Couldn't sweeze another body in The Pub either night if you tried. Happy to say Jekyll/Hyde has morphed into a mighty fine rocker. No more Meatloaf...just tender, young prime rib. Great show for Steinman fans. Looks like The Dream Engine just might be headed for big things down the road (track).

I was there the last night. I loved it as well. I have heard a lot of Jim Steinman's work and I gotta say, I love what I see and hear.

My favorite songs were "Great Boleros of Fire" (which, in DotV, when the song had words, was "Eternity"), "An American Elegy" (in DotV it was "Braver Than We Are"), and "Objects In The Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer than They Are." The new songs I liked were "Safe Sex," "Not Allowed To Love," and "Still The Children: A Requiem."

I also love that they played "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad" with solo guitar and with the audience chiming in on backup vocals. That's great stuff.

However the songs I've been wanting to hear so bad are "Paradise By the Dashboard Light", "I'd Do Anything For Love," "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All," "You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth," "For Crying Out Loud," "Heaven Can Wait," and "Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young."

They did most of the ones you wanted to hear at the show then called "Over The Top" a year or so ago at Joe's Pub and then again at the Mohegan Sun Casino in CT. Rob Evan did a great "I'd Do Anything For Love..." Were you at that show?

This is the main reason I loved DOTV (put down the tomatoes).
