I was surprisingly taken with this movie. The trailer didn't excite me at all, but I went and was generally pleased with the treatment throughout. It is a bit too long, but overall the movie succeeds. Matt Damon gives a very strong and impressive central performance, quite possibly his finest to date. It was also such a pleasure to see Joe Pesci on screen again. His small cameo role just goes to show what a skilled and underrated actor he is. I would recommend it.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were a few holes (I won't spoil), but overall, I was all comfy in my movie seat going along for the ride. It's about secrets and trust, and loyalties - and all of these things are questionable (and metaphorical) right up until the very end. Great performances by Matt Damon and cast. I thought the editing between the flashbacks and present day was also quite well-done. Not the best movie ever, but I'd definitely recommend it.

Cruelly, are you are you didn't drop a tab of green windowpane and go to DREAMGIRLS, babydoll?

That was a fascinating share.
