Weirdly enough, I was the only person on my row to not get spit on. Maybe its because I was the only person on the row who wouldn't have minded being spit upon by Mr. Cerveris...is that a bad thing

Oh I did!
I saw Passion at the lincoln center...my seats were front and center.
I definitely was spit on...for most of the show.
And oddly enough...I've talked to him about it twice. It's sort of a long story.

So what's his deal?
Maybe he could use a spit bucket.
And FosseBoi, no one wants to hear about your (sick) fetishes.

He did.
I mean I wasn't like "WTF MICHAEL CERVERIS? YOU SPIT ON ME."
A close friend of mine is his god-daughter or something of the sort (shes tried to explain this to me countless times)...so we went to see him after Sweeney Todd one night and we were talking about....hell, I don't even remember...but somehow Passion came up and he apologized saying "I must have been spitting all over you".
And, of course, I said something goofy like "No worries, it was an honor". But he laughed. And I'm close friends with his god-daughter (?) so I'm pretty sure he didn't think I was some creepy fanatic who goes to his shows with a paper cup waiting for flying saliva.

#9Good Actors Spit When They Project--No Big Deal

Posted: 8/13/06 at 1:33amI know that it isn't a big deal, hell it is kind off an honor. I was just wondering how many people have gotten that honar. I realize that many amazing actors do it.

It sounds like Hugh spits all the time then, because he spit (not on me) as Lestat.
I was sitting pretty close to the stage and could see it flying all over.

Posted: 8/13/06 at 9:54amActually, I think Ben Magnuson is more of a spitter than Cerveris. His spit just goes really high into the air--it like jumps. That's a talented spitter for you.

Posted: 8/13/06 at 2:37pm^ I agree. By the end of the show I felt like he was trying to complete the set and get everyone in the first few rows.

I hear Tim Howar spit's a lot. I heard that the people in the 2 front rows or RENT got sprayed.

"An actor who is properly projecting their voice does spit a lot. It means he's doing it right."
Huh?
I think you're confusing enunciation with vocal projection... either that or a glandular problem.
Regardless, neither one requires a trained singer to do an impromptu Sylvester the Cat impersonation.
He's just guilty of too much lube on the lips and tongue... and sharing that unfortunate habit with the world.
Some people find that sexy. Others annoying. Even more would ask for an umbrella.

Sorry, best12bars.
That's from the best of the best, the only acclaimed "world class actor" (by the legislature yet) in Hawaii and a man who was RADA and RSC and even acted in Olivier's company when he had one.
One whom I have seen spray all throughout performance. We are talking real projected stage voice here. Not some mic'd sh*t.
It also happens to be the opinion of Jefferson Mays. All good actors spit a lot.
You actually get taught by a good vocal instructor that you will spit a lot when you project and not to be afraid of doing it. Otherwise you might worry that there was something wrong when you spray, or be overly concerned when another actor does it near you.
The photos of your mother are lovely, by the by and off topic.

Posted: 8/13/06 at 6:36pmI was in the second row the last time I saw Sweeney, but no spit for me. I'm seeing it for the last time in a few weeks in the front row, so maybe that will be my lucky day. Meanwhile, I have been spat on by Dixie Carter. And Gavin MacLeod spat on my mother several years ago.

Hee! The Spit Nazi? "No spit for you!"
I was safe in the fourth row. Michael Cerveris is sexy and intense, but...no thanks.

As a matter of fact, I do, FosseBoi. An oral fixation.
