Never once entered your mind??????????????
Nothing came to mind during the sequence when Bob Parr discovers Syndrome's plan of destroying a city in order to "save" it and watches planes flying into high-rise buildings? Or when we see Syndrome flying directly into a skyline remarkably similar to downtown Manhattan? Or when the explicit theme of the movie is the necessity of people to realize their potential, rise to the occasion and work together in the face of catastrophe? If that isn't a post-9/11 sensibility, I don't know what is. It's not twisted nor meant to upset but inspire and succeeds. Nevertheless, the implications are unsettling to find in a family entertainment.

This movie was INCREDIBLE.
Haha I work at a movie theatre and I've found myself saying that to so many guests, before I realize what I've said, then shake my head.
But in all honesty, I dare say it was one of the best animated films I have ever seen. And considering I'm dating a Disney animator, we're talking about LOTS of animated films!
The humour was amazing. Unlike Shrek (which I adored) it did not push for laughs, they just sort of happened (like when Dash is pushing Elastigirl across the water and Violet is sitting on top, less than amused). Every scene and character had an integral purpose, such is the style of Brad Bird. I was thoroughly impressed by this movie and was laughing hysterically through many parts of it.
Having watched it with an animator, my eyes were opened to another important feat of animation.......the ACTING. I'm not neccessarily talking about the voices (although they were fantastic). The character animation was the best I have ever seen. It's easy to forget you're watching animated characters. Every nuance and facial expression is so perfect that it makes these characters better actors than many humans you see on screen. Cheers to the Pixar animators for being such incredible actors!
GO SEE THIS MOVIE!

"Never once entered your mind??????????????"

Nope. I did think the skyline resembled Manhattan a little bit, but I never once thought of 9/11.

"Or when the explicit theme of the movie is the necessity of people to realize their potential, rise to the occasion and work together in the face of catastrophe?"

It's quite a common theme in both superhero movies (X-Men) and disaster films (Poseidon Adventure), so I wasn't trying to make the 9/11 connection at the time. I think if you look for 9/11 scenes, you will find them not only in this film, but probably others, but it doesn't mean they are deliberate. People see what they want to see hidden in films all the time.

I just saw this tonight and loved it. But I want to know if anyone else saw the resemblance to Marc Shaiman in the pre-shorn lamb in the short?

PEACE.
