Midnight at the oasis
Send your camel to bed
Shadows paintin' our faces
Traces of romance in our heads
Heaven's holdin' a half-moon
Shinin' just for us
Let's slip off to a sand dune, real soon
And kick up a little dust
Come on, Cactus is our friend
He'll point out the way
Come on, till the evenin' ends
Till the evenin' ends
You don't have to answer
There's no need to speak
I'll be your belly dancer, prancer
And you can be my sheik

Posted: 8/3/05 at 2:17amI think I'm gonna try the less is more approach to acting. You open your eyes when you're talking to the person and you close them when you look away. I mean, you close you're eyes when you're talking to the person and then you open then you look away, and then you close 'em...

What is "For Your Consideration" about?
Has anyone ever see the Guffman director's cut? I've heard it is out there but have never seen it

Well, the DVD release has several cut scenes, including an absolutely brilliant scene/song called "Bulging River" that had me wetting myself.

Posted: 8/3/05 at 12:25pmFor Your Consideration is described as "A documentary crew follows an actor and his entourage from the completion of his movie through a night at the Academy Awards". It features the standard cast of Guest, Levy, O'Hara, Posey, Willard, McKean, Balaban and adding Ricky Gervais (The Office UK) into the mix.

oh.my.god. I am in love with Christopher Guest.
And Parker Posey.
This movie sounds like it could conceivably top them all.

Well, I've heard stories about the pure pleasure they have. Also, many of them (Eugene Levy specifically) talks about how hard it is to get Fred Willard to crack up and how easily he does it to everyone else.
In fact, watch Guffman with the commentary and Levy will alert you to a moment when Fred does something that makes him laugh so hard he steps out of the camera shot to laugh until he can get his face straight again...and then he steps back in.
I think that's it right there. I would probably give up a body part to do one of his films.

Same here...
It is amazing how spot on they were with community theatre...I love letting people know that there is always a married couple who star in half the shows that act just like Sheila and Ron...
I think that Catherine O'Hara is the most underrated actress...why she never had a sitcom!
Her stuff on SCTV was brilliant.

i think catherine o'hara would have felt hemmed in by the sit-com format. i think i remember reading that they tried to get her one for a while. none of that group of sctv-ers went for a series. catherine o'hara is great friends with meryl streep and i have always wanted to see them do something together. (do you remember her streep impersonation on sctv? where her head exploded in the end? TOO FUNNY!)

they tried to get bonnie a sitcom several times and they were mostly really bad. life with bonnie was the best of them. it definitely had it's moments. she has had almost as many pilots as tim curry!
