'Zactly. I wish I had a scanner right now. Hmph.

So tell me about yourself. I don't know that much about you! Also, tell me about the average Ohioan. I feel like such a stuck-up Californian when I think of you all. Like you guys are all kinda grubby, eating at McDonalds, blinded by the Republican right... how off can I be?! Updated On: 11/21/04 at 12:41 AM

Now there's a hard question. It's hard for me to find a style, due to my mom's constraints. Right now I'm just picky, but I've found some things I like. There are like literally no vintage stores in my area, so I'm stuck with fake stuff. Like... I dunno. Ripped up jeans, fishnets, tshirts (some that say funny stuff, some plain, some with nifty designs), tanktops, lacy/see-through overlays for those... jackets that are kinda blazer like but not preppy and none of that tweed crap. Oh, and I NEVER wear those ugly overdone graphic tees. I hate those. Annoy the hell out of me. Uh... lots of darker colors. I also like to modify clothes myself, bleach pen drawings and ribbons, chop off sleeves or a neckline. Hard to describe.

Basically, I hate preppy and punk is too overdone. It's not really true boho because I don't know where to go for that, but it's like laid back and a little artsy. That's not a good description, I really don't know what to say.

You sound quite a bit like me. I try go to vintage shops and thrift stores for my stuff and often times I break out my scissors and sewing supplies.

I like graphic tee's, but only the more vintage-looking ones. The kind that people buy at Abercrombie and Fitch or American Eagle with those stupid little phrases on them (that often have sexual connotations) are the most pathetic and ugly little products of Korean sweatshops and they make me laugh. In a bad way.

Anyways, I like your style, Nia. Sounds hip. And I feel you pain about only being able to buy the fake stuff- all the good clothing is just too expensive or hard to come by nowadays.

Rock on, Delph. I do a lot of stuff on my own and I make jewelry that goes with it too. I'm a little seam ripper happy on my jeans sometimes. My mom hates it.

I know what you mean about those nasty Abercrombie shirts. It makes me sick to look at them- kids die from making them and they're so immature.

*cuddles seam ripper* My best friend... except for those hundred of times I've stabbed myself with it. Ouch.

I feel kinda bad right now for bagging on the shirts made in sweatshops since the shirt I'm wearing right now was probably made in a sweatshop. I just needed to confess that.

But I really do try to stay away from the major stores, like A&F. I have a several friends who are OBSESSED with those tacky shirts. They always go, "Look how cute my new shirt is? Isn't is clever? Look see it says- 'Sexy Inn- stay up late, sleep inn.' Isn't that SOOO clever?!?!" No, no it is not. *facepalm*

I have two shirts from Urban Outfitters, but none of them say anything. How many points do I lose?

Delph, the seam ripper is right beside my pillow all night.

I especially hate when girls wear that crap saying stuff about their boyfriends, drinking/drugs or some 'cool party' when they've obviously never been out with anyone...

I don't have any 'style'. I just wear whatever. Stuff from hot topic wih a few broadway/band tshirts mixed in. Dunno what little group I would put myself into. I'm a freak who plays DDR or goes to renaissance fairs with my 3 friends on weekends, and durring the week becomes invisible and retreats to bww after school. Actually, now that I think about it, for those of you who have the rent bible, I dress a lot like 'Steve' on the page of the libretto with 'will i' on it.

That's cool, Glory.

Sorry Tiff. I'm sure it looks real cute on you. I admit to owning a couple things from Forever 21. Do you guys have those where you live?

Don't worry, Delph. I don't actually own the shirt (or any A&F/Urban Outfitters), I found the pattern on the Urban Outfitters website when I was tracking down a pseudo-vintage CBGB's tee (to no avail). At my geezer age (of early-20s), I lean more towards college wear - in other words, I'm poor and I wear pajama bottoms to school. (Kidding on the last part - I hate it when people wear PJs to lecture.)

SH*T, I'm supposed to be gone.

Glory, I like that style. Cool. And I LOVE Ren Fest too. Honest Living, Man!

Delph, I have Forever 21 stuff. 98% of that store is crap, but their jeans are dirt cheap and great for ripping and bleaching and I have this one great gauzy button-up shirt type thing from there.

To find stuff in Forever 21 you really have to search. One of my best friends is a complete princess and only wear clothes in the colors white and pink, mainly from Forever 21. It's crazy to see her in her pink heels, white tank top with pink frills and beads, and the pink skirt about two inches long.

Hey Nina! What's your style?

Okay, now I really have to go. But I am genuinely interested to know! I'm so taken with Sex and the City so a lot of my clothes are "inspired" by it (as in, similar fashion, but without the 6-digit budget!).

Exactly, Delph. You can go into that store and buy wierd Barbie clothes or you can find some cool laid back stuff with nice texture.

On a similar note, my Docs ought to be here soon. Honest Living, Man!

Nina, don't even try self-pity. You know you're always allowed to jump into the conversation.

Weelll, if you must ask, whatever is comfy during the week (i.e. jeans and a tee shirt and a sweatshirt) Sometimes I feel like dressing up so I wear jeans and a nice shirt...

However, on the weekends I am so lazy I basically never leave my PJs. It's so fun Honest Living, Man!
