I had dance auditions for Bye Bye Birdie today, and I did pretty bad. We all learned the dance and then had time to practice it and then we'd go in one by one and do it. I had practiced it severel times and I had it all down, and when it came time to dance I was about a half a beat off and then I got to the middle of it and skipped a step and then I got lost and I did the worst possible thing you can do. I just stopped dancing. And then I picked it up again but it was really spastic from there on out. I did the dance again when I got home and it was perfect. Blaahhhhhhh.
I had dance auditions for Annie last week. We all learned this 35-second combination and I did horribly. The choreographer came in and taught us the dance, step-for-step, and we practiced it more than I thought we would. I practiced and tried so hard to get that damn dance down. I even got help from my peers, the ones with the crazy dance skills.
I messed up on my audition tape. I was sad that I did, but then I looked around and realized I wasn't the only one that was totally lost.
I only have two and a half years of dance....modern and ballet. I'm sixteen, so that's pretty sad. I pretty able to learn choreography, and I can do the steps, but I'm definately not a dancer. I have zero technique.
Okay, I cracked. I can't dance. But I'm flexible? Does that count?
I have some really basic dance training... and I can pick up on easy dance combinations pretty easily, but once you get to harder combinations I definitely need more time to get it down. And I have such bad technique =x
