Here's a thread to talk about movies currently or soon to be on Turner Classic Movies. Paper Moon is on around midnight this evening. I'm looking forward to seeing it again.
Well I watch silent films but i have no idea what's on TCM right now. But I just love the classic's! What ever happened to the classic's. (dissapointed look)
Paper Moons coming on here now.
"I want my two-'undred, dollars."
Paper Moon was quite amazing! Just saw it!
Wow, for the first time?
I was switching between it and the Fashion Rocks Concert a bit.
Now I'm watching The Sugarland Express on the Retroplex channel. Goldie Hawn is so amazing in this.
I'm only 15. I jsut heard of it.
madeline kahn was marvelous in PAPER MOON.
i think my favorite line is "i tried to push her out of a window once in little rock."
and you know daddy ryan taught daughter tatum how to play that part by recording all of her lines on a tape recorder and having her listen to it over and over to memorize each delivery.

TCM is a great channel. Just last week they showed several of Ingmar Bergman's films. I finally got to see The Seventh Seal.
They will be showing the documentary Grey Gardens in October, for those who haven't seen the original.
The Private Screenings series is always very interesting and so well done. They are also having a mini Betty Hutton festival with her Private Screenings interview that is not to be missed and three of her films. Watch for both of these events in October.
I love Paper Moon so much.
"Daddy, I need to go to the sh!t-house."
I need to go winky-tinky real bad!
I'm all into TCM, of course, but what the hell was up with Friday night's "Short Movie" festival? God, I thought some of those "films" would never end and finally gave up after watching Ridley Scott's "Boy and a Bicycle" (which wasn't too bad).
I end up DVR'ing most of what I watch on TCM, as the true oldies are usually shown between 2 and 5 am.
"Hud" is on now here in CA. Good movie. Much better than the crappy "Rooster Cogburn" earlier.
The Miracle Worker, tonight at 8:00.
Camille is on right now. I don't know if anyones ever looked more handsome than Robert Taylor in his film.
Quite a line-up tonight: Out of Africa, Reds, & Raintree County.
Well, those first two ought to be able to put me to sleep right away!
I'm sure nobaidy here watched tha fantastic "Sunrise" they played last night. Except maybe best12.
GOD... justme2!
You know me too well.
Yes, my partner and I both watched it last night... until we fell asleep. I was floored by the cinematography and art direction. And little (22 year old) Janet Gaynor broke my heart!
A well-deserved (very first) Academy Award win for Best Actress.
I added it to my "DVD Wish List."
Twelvy, your house is already most people's DVD Wish List.
Well...
...there's always room for one more.
Especially a wonderful film like Sunrise. F.W. Murnau RULES!
Hey B12B, I love "Sunrise" as well! Janey Gaynor is one of my favorite silent screen actresses, right up there will Miss Lillian Gish!
I love SUNRISE. I agree that OUT OF AFRICA and REDS aren't worth the film-stock they are printed on!
Agreed! (see Sunrise pic below...)
EDIT: Ugh. I mean about hannahshule's comment.
I certainly don't agree with JB2's sentiments
"REDS" is actually one of my all-time favorite films.
Other than Maureen Stapleton, who could entertain me reading the phone book, I hated REDS.
Yes, I gathered that.
I knew you'd be there last night! I'm happy to see so many others come out in support of this film; it's quite comforting.
I'd seen Sunrise before, on a crappy VHS years ago, but loved it then. When I heard they were finally going to restore it, I was thrilled. Beautiful score as well as cinematography, and Gaynor somehow managed to break our hearts despite the appalling blond hairdo she had!
LOL! Yeah, she's fighting that bleached Princess Lea look.
Not an easy battle to win, either.
